American English

Hi! I don't want to reopen the whole rename thing on the Gulf of Mexico page again, but just to clarify - Wikipedia does not preferentially use American English. You can read the guidelines at WP:ENGVAR, but the short version is that every article must be consistent, either using the variant of English most closely tied to the article's subject (e.g. American English for an American) or whichever variety of English the page was started in if there's no clear national ties. So you can see that e.g. Great Fire of London is written in British English. Rusalkii (talk) 05:34, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
