Universe Awareness

[edit]

The source of the material you added to the article Universe Awareness is this site. It may be properly licensed for use (I wish they were clearer about the license but that may not be a major issue). However, when massive amounts of text are incorporated we don't simply add a reference at the end we are more explicit about stating that an article incorporates free text from another source. Furthermore, it is very rarely appropriate to incorporate large amount of text. The source is writing and a tone which is promoting their goals. This is quite understandable and appropriate for them. However Wikipedia endeavors to write with a neutral tone which means a voiding anything that is promotional. Simply copying and pasting text is likely to provide serve the promotional is am of the original.

There are cases in which we incorporate large amounts of text from other sources but one of the best examples is copying material from public domain encyclopedias which are already written in an appropriate tone.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:49, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
