food allergy links
You wrote: "Hey, why did you remove the link to kidswithfoodallergies.org from the food allergy article? It's a very useful nonprofit site.... Would you please put it back?" Asbruckman 03:35, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- The problem is that it offers direct retail sales-- it may or may not be non-profit, but it is a commercial site. Also, it requires registration to view its resources. If it were a truly extraordinary site, it might be OK even with these drawbacks, but it just doesn't look that valuable or unique to me. You might want to read through Wikipedia's External links policy. -- Mwanner | Talk 22:24, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Death of Peter Lyman
Let me offer my condolences if you were a friend or associate of Dr. Lyman. When adding a notice that a subject of a WP biography has died, it is our practice to give a reference to a public announcement when possible, so that others know you are not playing a cruel joke. That kind of vandalism is, unfortunately, too common. I added a reference to http://www.ischool.berkeley.edu/about/news/topstories/lyman07022007 to the article [{Peter Lyman]]. — Carl (CBM · talk) 14:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image talk:Green Cay 1.JPG
A tag has been placed on Image talk:Green Cay 1.JPG, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. - I deleted nothing, because I'm not an admin. The image talk (yes, It is image talk page, not the image itself) which was created by you, was one of tens of helpless talk pages for the project. You can read more about talk pages there. If you want to ask a question out of topic of improving that image, please go to questions page. Happy editing!--OsamaKReply? on my talk page, please 19:02, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Cut-and-paste move of Milk allergy
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Milk allergy a different title by copying its content and pasting it into Dairy allergy. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. --Allen3 talk 01:29, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
SONAR Damage from Squid
Thank you for the kind words. A user with more knowledge of the species than I reverted the story as inappropriate because giant squid tentacle suction cups apparently don't have the type of claws found on the SONAR dome coating. So I moved the story to the "Size" portion of the generalized Squid article. Thewellman (talk) 16:07, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- User:Mgiganteus1 acknowledged Colossal Squid has similar claws but felt attribution could be construed as original research. The Wikipedia article seemed to indicate the colossal squid range is within the Southern Ocean rarely frequented by the United States Navy. The United States Naval Institute Proceedings article about the SONAR dome damage didn't specify the operational area where the damage occurred. The colossal squid may have a greater range than presently documented, or there may be other species occupying the more northerly latitudes. Thewellman (talk) 20:43, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Voice of the turtle
A tag has been placed on Voice of the turtle requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Voice of the turtle
The following is what is required for a band or other musical group to qualify as a Wikipedia article: WP:MUSIC Thanks, Non-dropframe (talk) 02:34, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there. I've declined the speedy on this article for now, and left a message on the talk page. Please note that if the "T" in "turtle" is usually capitalised in the band name, you should "Move" the page to a new title like Voice of the Turtle.
