iPad editing

Hi there, I spotted an edit note regarding curly quotation marks. I think if you hold your finger on a key of an Apple product, it'll start showing you related items, including straight quotation marks. Give it a try. Schwede66 19:09, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Positive case in Cook Islands

[edit]

I have made an effort to revert your edits about Cook Islands having a positive case. The Cook Islands did NOT have a active positive case.

The Cook Islands detected the presence of SARS-CoV-2 viral fragments from a historical case who had already completed quarantine in NZ before travelling to the Cook Islands, and was reported in the NZ numbers. The detection by the Te Marae Ora using a PCR test was only viral fragments from a historical case this does not confirm the presence of an active viral load and the person was found not to have been infectious for any of their time in the Cook Islands. Aeonx (talk) 02:42, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Aeonx:, thanks very much for the clarification. I am not so familiar with the health and medical aspects of Covid-19 so it is good that people who have a better understanding of the terminology address these errors and mistakes. Thanks for pointing them out. Will probably be good to revise the article to reflect that. Cheers. Andykatib (talk) 02:47, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have also nominated COVID-19 pandemic in the Cook Islands for deletion, the content is duplicated and seems redundant, but please make comment on why to keep the article since it was split. Aeonx (talk) 02:59, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Christchurch Shootings - Additional Arrest

[edit]

Hi, You added to Christchurch shootings. Despite the women being a survivor of the shootings, I don't think this is related and consequently I wouldn't have added it to the Christchurch mosque shootings page. However, the paragraph is well written and cited so maybe it should stay. I'll leave it to your judgement. Best Wishes Tel (who does not live in Orewa) OrewaTel (talk) 06:26, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi OrewaTel, thanks for getting in touch. I have to admit that the item I added might only be indirectly related to the topic of the article. I think I'll let it stay for now but will let the others decide whether it's appropriate. It may develop into a bigger story or it might just remain a footnote in public history. Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Firestar464 (talk) 08:32, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Three waters reforms

[edit]

Hi Andykatib. Thanks for the content you have added about the Three Waters Reforms. I have worked on both of these articles previously, but have been a bit slack and not kept them up to date with the latest announcements. On a minor point, I see you have red-linked Three Waters. What do you propose ? The article Water supply and sanitation in New Zealand seems to be all about the Three Waters. Marshelec (talk) 04:24, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Marshelec, thanks so much for taking an interest in my edits relating to the Three Waters reforms. I have been working on a Draft:Three Waters article focusing on the Sixth Labour Government's reform programme as policy issue. I think that the Water supply and sanitation in New Zealand would focus more generally on water and supply provision in the country. Three Waters would then focus more on the Government's flagship policy. Open to feedback on how to tackle this. Let me know what you think. Andykatib 04:31, November 2021 (UTC)
It is a good idea to have an article about the reform process, because it is complex, there are lots of potential citations, and huge implications. Putting all the detail of the reforms into either or both of the Local Government and Water & Sanitation articles could unbalance them. A summary style is best, with links to your planned new article. My main suggestion at this stage is to title the new article Three Waters Reform or similar. I don't think just Three Waters is the optimum title, because this term is widely used in the NZ water industry and in government generally, for the collective description of this kind of infrastructure (not just reforms). For example, see: [1]. Marshelec (talk) 04:52, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Marshelec for your feedback and advice. I agree that a summary style will be good and that it would be better to rename the final article something like Three Waters reform programme since that is the official name on the official Three Waters website. That would differentiate from other topics. One idea that I had in mind was probably transferring content from the Local government in New Zealand and Water supply and sanitation in New Zealand articles into the new Three Waters article. The existing content could then be trimmed down with a brief summary. Let me know what you think. Andykatib 04:57, November 2021 (UTC)
Definitely. Most of the content that I included in the Water and Sanitation article under Reform of policy and regulation could be relocated to your new article, with just a short summary left behind and a "main" template link. We can probably work on this together. You have made a great start. I will be happy to act as reviewer. Marshelec (talk) 05:37, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Marshelec, this sounds like a good idea. Will work on it later tonight and over the week. Andykatib 06:09, November 2021 (UTC)
Good work on this, team. I think the article does not yet do it justice just how controversial it is. But it’s now easy for anybody to add that in given that you have got the ball rolling. Schwede66 18:42, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Schwede66, happy to help. Glad I have laid the foundations for other editors to expand the article. Cheers. Andykatib (talk) 20:36, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to take part in a survey about medical topics on Wikipedia

[edit]

Dear fellow editor,

I am Piotr Konieczny, a sociologist of new media at Hanyang University (and User:Piotrus on Wikipedia). I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Open access copy of the resulting research will be made available at WikiProject's Medicine upon the completion of the project.

All questions are optional. The survey is divided into 4 parts: 1 - Brief description of yourself; 2 - Questions about your volunteering; 3 - Questions about WikiProject Medicine and 4 - Questions about Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics.

Please note that by filling out this questionnaire, you consent to participate in this research. The survey is anonymous and all personal details relevant to your experience will be kept private and will not be transferred to any third party.

I appreciate your support of this research and thank you in advance for taking the time to participate and share your experiences! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at my Wikipedia user page or through my email listed on the survey page (or by Wikipedia email this user function).

The survey is accessible through the LINK HERE.
