Administrators' newsletter – February 2018
News and updates for administrators from the past month (January 2018).
- None
- Blurpeace • Dana boomer • Deltabeignet • Denelson83 • Grandiose • Salvidrim! • Ymblanter
- An RfC has closed with a consensus that candidates at WP:RFA must disclose whether they have ever edited for pay and that administrators may never use administrative tools as part of any paid editing activity, except when they are acting as a Wikipedian-in-Residence or when the payment is made by the Wikimedia Foundation or an affiliate of the WMF.
- Editors responding to threats of harm can now contact the Wikimedia Foundation's emergency address by using Special:EmailUser/Emergency. If you don't have email enabled on Wikipedia, directly contacting the emergency address using your own email client remains an option.
- A tag will now be automatically applied to edits that blank a page, turn a page into a redirect, remove/replace almost all content in a page, undo an edit, or rollback an edit. These edits were previously denoted solely by automatic edit summaries.
- The Arbitration Committee has enacted a change to the discretionary sanctions procedure which requires administrators to add a standardized editnotice when placing page restrictions. Editors cannot be sanctioned for violations of page restrictions if this editnotice was not in place at the time of the violation.

Request for intervention please
Good evening Amortias, I tried to request intervention and they [1] adressed me to you. I started editing at the french wikipedia, users name=Marloen at the psychology project as I am psychoanalyst, PhD, university teachning, and have scientific responsabilities at a very high international level. The psychology team of the WikiPedia.fr is hold by Pierrette13, and two other psychologists Cathrotterdam (experimental psychologist) and Bruynek (declared psychoanalyst) who edits privileging her preferences and relationships. I will have a lot to say about. They didn't like my arrival and as I was new and didn't know at this moment how to edit, they started treating me agressively, every time I tried to contribute I was forced out, two request at the administers were sold out by my blocking, and now again they are forcing a global block. [2]
During all previous attempts to discuss and explane myself my diff wasn't take into account. It is troue that when they agress me I am pointing it out and ask to aply wikipedia's principls. For exemple they errased my page [3] yelling on my and making fun etc, etc. They are following me and interfere to my editing, and then they pretend that I am following them. Could you check the history please? I will be willing to send you more details and diffs, but honestly I am not sure any more that someone could impartialy examine my request.--Marloen (talk) 21:44, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
Deletion of 007 (hand game)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
- We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!
New Year Backlog Drive results:
- We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!
General project update:
- ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
- Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

I've tagged you in a discussion on Cwmhiraeth's Talk Page regarding removed content from this article. A concern regarding a copyright violation was found to be incorrect. If you could please respond to the discussion at your convenience. Thank you, Fiberfile12 (talk) 22:03, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

undeletion of page "Draft:Suzy Williams"
Hello, For brevity, I shall refer here to "Draft:Suzy Williams" as "the page", and "http://www.laughtears.com/suzy_bio.html" as "the bio".
I note that you deleted "the page" due to "Unambiguous copyright infringement of" "the bio". I understand this means that you consider that "the page" is infringing upon the supposed copyright of "the bio", correct?
Please allow me to explain that I wrote the material that got posted to "the bio" some time ago, and basically the same material was recently posted to create "the page". There is no copyright associated with this material.
To make sure there is no appearance of copyright infringement, I propose the following: I will arrange to have "the bio" deleted. Once "the page" is published, "the bio" will become a duplication of it and so is no longer needed anyway. And of course, the link to "the bio" on "the page" would also be removed.
Would this resolve your copyright infringement objection? Would you then permit "the page" to be undeleted or recreated? If so, how would undeletion be accomplished?
Thank you for your service to Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr.bobbs (talk • contribs) 00:06, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Dr.bobbs. To comply with the licensing restrictions we wouldn't be able to host the information even if the previous page was removed. What we would need to be able to host something like this would be for the text to be donated per the instructions here. Amortias (T)(C) 19:59, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Amortias. I have gotten the page "http://www.laughtears.com/suzy_bio.html" to include a notice at top and bottom saying
"The text of this page is released under the Creative Commons Zero Waiver 1.0 (CC0)." including link to https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/ I hope this satisfies the requirements properly? Could I now get "Draft:Suzy Williams" undeleted, please? --Dr.bobbs (talk) 01:52, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- Dr.bobbs Done but it still needs some work doing before it could be published. Amortias (T)(C) 11:00, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Page deleted
Why did you delete my GL5 Active protection system page? I was about to edit it! Chickenhero (talk) 20:20, 13 February 2018 (UTC)chickenhero
- Hi Chickenhero the page was a copyright violation of this page. As such it met the criteria for speedy deletion and was removed. Amortias (T)(C) 20:23, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
I did say I was about to edit it. Now can you bring the page back on so I can do want I said I will do? Chickenhero (talk) 20:26, 13 February 2018 (UTC)chicknhero
- Unfortunately not. We cant restore copyright violations as that would be another copyright violation. You'll need to start over without including copyright violations on the page. You can use the page as a reference (if its reliable) to back up your claims but you cant just copy/paste something from elsewhere directly into the encyclopedia. Amortias (T)(C) 20:30, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Just wondering what I did wrong that caused you to delete the page I created.
Chris — Preceding unsigned comment added by Raptureboi (talk • contribs) 20:36, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Raptureboi the page itself didn't show how the person it was written about met our notability requirements. If you've got further evidence you can use to show how they meet the guidelines I would be happy to restore the article to a draft so that you can continue working on it without it being at risk of deletion for being insufficiently evidenced. Amortias (T)(C) 20:43, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of TUME wiki page
Greetings, Amortias, I was wondering why the page for TUME (a historically significant game development tool) was deleted (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TUME, Explanation: Expired PROD (TW)), and if it would be possible to bring it back.

- The page was deleted as it was nominated for deletion a week ago and there were no objections raised to it being removed. The page itself is poorly referenced I'd be happy to bring it back as a draft to allow it to be worked on further before being republished if that would be of help to you though. Amortias (T)(C) 20:03, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for protecting Rob Schrab. Unfortunately, you protected the wrong version. This is the last good version before the edit warring began. 32.218.41.227 (talk) 20:24, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, per the wrong version which ever version I protect will be wrong. I shouldn't be choosing a version to protect unless its a violation of major policy. If it is indeed wrong' someone should pick up on it who knows more about the subject area than me and fix it. Amortias (T)(C) 20:30, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- A humorous essay is not a policy. Protecting the version that existed before an edit war makes sense to 999/1000 people. 32.218.41.227 (talk) 20:33, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

Fix your block
I don't have any opinion on your blocking people for Arbcom things. But why, oh why, are you adding an autoblock? That's just sloppy blocking. Please remove the autoblock forthwith. Risker (talk) 23:27, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
- Risker The block wasn't actioned by myself. I suggest you speak to Goldenring in the first instance as they actioned it if they're not readily available I'll happily change that but I'd rather the blocking admin sorted it. Amortias (T)(C) 23:31, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
- Apologies, Amortias. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Risker (talk) 23:35, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
IB ArbCom
If smcandlish is allowed to add himself as a party just by request ("Clearly a party" how?; "accidentally left off" how?) then it's clear I should be able to recuse myself as a party on exactly the same basis. I'm only listed because of his "evidence" (and that doesn't actually hold up to any scrutiny). - SchroCat (talk) 01:41, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

GOCE February 2018 news
Guild of Copy Editors February 2018 News
Welcome to the February 2018 GOCE newsletter in which you will find Guild updates since the December edition. We got to a great start for the year, holding the backlog at nine months. 100 requests were submitted in the first 6 weeks of the year and were swiftly handled with an average completion time of 9 days. Coordinator elections: In December, coordinators for the first half of 2018 were elected. Jonesey95 remained as lead coordinator and Corrine, Miniapolis and Tdslk as assistant coordinators. Keira1996 stepped down as assistant coordinator and was replaced by Reidgreg. Thanks to all who participated! End of year reports were prepared for 2016 and 2017, providing a detailed look at the Guild's long-term progress. January drive: We set out to remove April, May, and June 2017 from our backlog and all December 2017 Requests (a total of 275 articles). As with previous years, the January drive was an outstanding success and by the end of the month all but 57 of these articles were cleared. Officially, of the 38 who signed up, 21 editors recorded 259 copy edits (490,256 words). February blitz: This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 11 through 17 February, focusing on Requests and the last articles tagged in May 2017. At the end of the week there were only 14 pending requests, with none older than 20 days. Of the 11 who signed up, 10 editors completed 35 copy edits (98,538 words). Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: Jonesey95, Miniapolis, Corinne, Tdslk, and Reidgreg. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

There was a request from Kostja1975 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). You blocked one of the participants — 87.207.8.156 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). However, you did not block and did not warn the applicant (Kostja1975) who did the same as user87.207.8.156, also violated WP:3RR (5 revert during the 24-hour period).
