Speedy deletion nomination of Clan MacEacharn
[edit]A tag has been placed on Clan MacEacharn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. 5 albert square (talk) 11:05, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Help
[edit]Welcome! {{helpme}} Original research on Clan MacEacharn page - I have added more references. I do not believe I have any original research on this page.
- Hello, you may remove all original research yourself. Our original research guideline does not permit original research in articles, as all information must be properly cited. Thank you, fetchcomms☛ 23:18, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- In My Oppinion, it seems pretty ok. You may remove the tag if you want, or wait untill some other editor reviews the article. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them-either at my talk page or by placing {{helpme}} on your talk page (including your question as well). If you want, you may read the introduction to using wikipedia. There are a lot of policies here, but they can all be summarized by these two- always cite what you add to an article, and try to keep a neutral point of view. Good luck! - I looked at the article, and tagged a few specific lines that appeared to be original research. The main problem with the article as it stands is it reads like a collection of facts, without a clear structure. You introduce several terms that might not be familiar to a reader, I would suggest you follow up with Wikipedia:WikiProject Clans of Scotland to see if someone can give you some assistance, and more developed clan article to compare against. I'd also suggest you read through Wikipedia:Writing better articles for some general advice. -Optigan13 (talk) 07:14, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have removed the original research. I have linked all others that you suggested I find Wiki refernces for. As to Siol Eachern (Siol Eachairn) there is no wiki page. There is also no wiki page for Killellan Estate. This does not mean either do not exist outside the wiki world. Siol is a Gaelic word used to describe a group of families all related to a single progenitor. Siol Gillebride is mentioned in the Clan MacInnes wiki. Should I create pages for them, as there is much valid research on their existance? -amceache
- At this poitn I would suggest following up with User:Brianann MacAmhlaidh who has been editing the article heavily and hopefully they can guide you through what they've been doing. -Optigan13 (talk) 06:14, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Unsubstantiated information
[edit]{{helpme}} How do I challenge information in other wiki pages that is unsubstantiated?
- The documentation for {{cn}} explains how to challenge a specific fact, and provides likes to many relevant guidelines and other related templates. Josh Parris 13:43, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
