I need your help
There is an article that needs your experience, someone highly recommend you. The article is Tendencia band. I would like you to see it and help to improve it for having it approved in Wikipedia. I know it needs a lot if work, but I can give you better references, and help with the translation, because they are in Spanish mostly. But again, someone said you are the best. I hope you can help... Kubanische (talk) 07:07, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry but too little time. I have a list of articles I am working on, including many translations, so time is short. Also I do not do bands as I know little to nothing of the genre. You failed to add a link to it, to make it easy to find, lithe this: Draft:Tendencia. -- Alexf(talk) 10:17, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
TPA revocation
Hey Alexf, would it be possible to revoke TPA for CorryGiles (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)? Thanks in advance. -- LuK3 (Talk) 14:39, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Done -- Alexf(talk) 14:40, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
I'm not aware of any rule that says talk page comments need to have sources or they get reverted. [1] Beeblebrox (talk) 18:17, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- I was curious about that too. It seems BITEy, and for me to say that is something. Perhaps if the info is already in the article, that should be pointed out to the OP, and if not, a polite request for sources so it can be added is appropriate. Removal isn't. John from Idegon (talk) 19:12, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe you are right. Are these entries meant for the article's page? They would need sourcing to be moved there. What other purpose do they serve in the talk page? Feel free to restore them if you disagree. -- Alexf(talk) 19:15, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
I removed the level-2 warning[2] that this new editor received on their first four edits which were neither disruptive nor out of Wikipedia scope. I can't believe my eyes that this came from an admin. — kashmīrī TALK 21:37, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
Your editing of userpages
Hi, I noticed that you carry out frequent edits to users' own userpages, mainly removing content:
- [3] - editor's short bio
- [4] - editor's phone number and locality (your edit summary: "rm spam")
- [5] - editor's social media profile address
- ... and many others.
In all these instances, the content you removed was allowed on Wikipedia. I suggest you revisit WP:UPYES and WP:UPNOT.
Additionally, you in some instances you deleted the entire userpage with similar comments as earlier, as for the editor User:The Abbasid Alsayeid Al Abbassi.
Why not reviewing your pattern of editing? — kashmīrī TALK 21:54, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Spamming your website or YT channel is not allowed. In the case of the mentions of family names, it is borderline, but adding personally identifiable information in the open internet is questionable at best. -- Alexf(talk) 22:48, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- I don't see any such things on WP:UP. Can you link to a policy? — kashmīrī TALK 22:57, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Additionally, we have this policy that I am afraid you might be violating. By Wikipedia tradition, a userpage belongs to the user and unless there is a gross policy violation, nobody should touch it. — kashmīrī TALK 23:04, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
Blocking of new user
Hi Alex, I recently conducted a Wikipedia Training in Nairobi and one of the new users came to me and showed me that you deleted her page and she is currently blocked. This was extremely disheartening to her and other volunteers as she had just began her journey as a Wikipedia editor. Her username is: Betty Auma. Kindly assist and let me know what she did wrong and how we can rectify this. -- FaithMwanyolo (Talk) 12:58, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- @FaithMwanyolo: I'll take a look and help you but you need to supply the proper user name with a link. I did not find a user with that last name. -- Alexf(talk) 12:01, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Well her user page was deleted/ blocked as well. Her username was Betty Auma Akoth. -- FaithMwanyolo (Talk) 12:58, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- @FaithMwanyolo: let's start again. I need a valid linked username, like the one you have in your signature. I searched my last 1,000 edits for "Betty", then for "Auma", and "Äkoth". Granted, text searches are inefficient but I got zero hits on these. With well over 160,000 contributions I cannot remember every which one, and without a link it is very hard to find. You need to supply a proper WP link, like you do for yourself: User:FaithMwanyolo, so I can take a look and tell you what it was and how to go about it forward. -- Alexf(talk) 15:19, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
Oh, sorry for that. It is: User:Betty Auma Akoth . -- FaithMwanyolo (Talk) 09:30, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
- @FaithMwanyolo: Ok, now we can check. The reason I did not remember it is because I had nothing to do with it, and had never seen it. The page was blocked by admin @Materialscientist:, not me. The reason given was a Checkuser check and violation. You would have to take it with him, as I am not a Checkuser and therefore cannot see the reasons to validate and explain. -- Alexf(talk) 10:06, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

Removal of link in article
Hi,
I've added our company name Royal IHC on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_shipbuilders_and_shipyards. I also added our wiki page, https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_IHC. I can see you've removed the link afterwards. Does it has to do with the fact that this is a Dutch page, i.e. there is no English page yest? Let me know, so that I can create an English page. Thank you! Regards Bas van Oosterhout — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bassie01 (talk • contribs) 08:31, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Bassie01: Correct. As the edit page says, every entry must have an article in the English Wikipedia. This is because WP itself is not a reliable source so we cannot point to other Wikipedias as links or references. -- Alexf(talk) 10:01, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
Ok good to know. We're going to set up an English wiki page. Thx! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bassie01 (talk • contribs) 13:39, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

Just a note...
Not to beat a dead horse here but I'm concerned by your assertion here that English Wikipedia disallows non-English userpages. This is simply untrue. Non-english content is allowed on userpages and in userspace. I agree it was out of scope but the fact that it was non-English is not the problem. Also if you come across a spam userpage that is a global userpage, it's best just to tag it with {{db-spam}} on meta. Praxidicae (talk) 15:14, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Praxidicae: Ok, ok, I got it. I already said 'Noted' in there, and I say it here. I stand corrected. It was spam, and it was out of scope for Meta. It was badly worded. I wont repeat that mistake. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 15:40, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

I am Sorry Sir , Fandom (website) and Wikipedia founder is Jimmy wales. MK0122 (talk) 14:55, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- As I said, these are not English Wikipedia pages. Just as I am not an admin in PT.WIkipedia or RU.Wikipedia, or any other Wikimedia Project, there is nothing I can do there. Having never seen or visited Fandom, I know less than I do about the others. They may be based in the same Wiki software, but there are no relations between each other, They are managed locally and their rules are different. -- Alexf(talk) 15:17, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
Are you the manager only for the fun, what do you know how much responsibility is placed on a manager, well let's go and study from nursery to intermediate and then, when you see the manager, I keep doing computer science Have studied, I will make you a manager for two hours without editing your Wikia.MK0122 (talk) 15:40, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- It seems you do not understand Wikipedia, and what the project is for. We do not have "managers". We have voluntary admins which are elected by the community. This is an encyclopedia, not a social network. Please stop posting issues unrelated to Wikipedia editing. Thank you for your attention. -- Alexf(talk) 15:51, 9 August 2020 (UTC)

Undelete base62
Hello Alexf, You speedy deleted the base62 article with the G4 comment "G4. Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion. This applies to sufficiently identical copies" I don't think it is an identical copy, because I have not seen the previous copy and created this article from scratch. Can you please undelete it? Thanks, --FlippyFlink (talk) 19:44, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- @FlippyFlink: Undeleted per request. Go work on it, add refs, and make sure it can defend challenges. -- Alexf(talk) 19:52, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you, I will improve the article :-) --FlippyFlink (talk) 09:59, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
why you deleted the name of Santino Spinelli foro Romani People list?
Hallo, I recently added one of the most notable person of Romany descent living and workingin Italy, like author and poet he is the autor of the poem upon the Monument for Samudaripen in Berlin, as musician he played for 3 Popes Romani Music, he teached at Trieste, Torino, Milano, Chieti and Teramo university for yeas, he has a personal page on Wikipedia, he his the first Italian Rom nominated "Commendatore della Repubblica" by Italian President Mattarella. I think he is a qualified person to be upon this list.
Please let me know why you do not consider Santino Spinelli a notable person. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daniela De Rentiis (talk • contribs) 09:02, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
- Because as it is clearly stated in the edit page for List of Romani people, an article in the English Wikipedia is required to be in the list, and the article has to assert notability. Other Wikipedias are not considered reliable. Please read about reliable sources, and please read the Edit Notices when editing a page. They are there for a reason. If you have any questions about how Wikipedia works, please ask at the Tea House. -- Alexf(talk) 17:08, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

DaMarcus
I saw that you removed DaMarcus as a "see also" link from the name list DeMarcus with edit summary of "rm wrong link".[9] Is your objection because DaMarcus is a redirect to DaMarcus Beasley or another reason? My reasoning was that a link to the redirect is more future proof if the redirect is changed to a namelist in the future.—Bagumba (talk) 12:57, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- Correct. It should be to a list under that name, not a single person's article. When and if we get more people with the name (haven't checked), then a list or disambiguation page can be made. -- Alexf(talk) 13:00, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
User:Waltzerbot
Why did you spamublock that account, despite the fact that it had absolutely no edits? I'd have understood a botublock, although that too would have been inappropriate, considering the absence of edits, but a spamublock seems to make no sense at all... Salvio 17:19, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Salvio giuliano: Oh? Oops! I meant botublock. Must have pressed the wrong button! Fixed! Thanks for the heads up. (must not do before coffee - must not....) -- Alexf(talk) 17:27, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello,
Would you mind explaining this revert? The editor was acting in good faith and you reverted it as vandalism. We were guiding them through the paid editing process on the Wikimedia Discord server and trying to get them to do it correctly.
I'm not sure of the reasoning for this so for now I have left it but would you mind explaining it?

Notification
Not sure why the template went all weird - just wanted to let you know that I left a note on the block for RoboNaz90. Long story short, I don't think that Naz was short for Nazi - I think it was just a case of them using a username that had the name of their friend (as Naz seems to be a common enough given name in Turkey). ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 08:08, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- It does not matter if his name is Naz. The name used has inappropriate connotations. -- Alexf(talk) 09:18, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Nope. Naz is not obviously inappropriate, especially for people from outside Europe or the English-speaking world. The username policy says that an indefinite block is reserved for cases of blatant policy violations, otherwise WP:AGF apply and sometimes username change requests, which must allow appropriate time to the editor. I suggest you reconsider. — kashmīrī TALK 12:34, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
