the3six5 wikipedia page
Alex:
Hey, I saw that the Wikipedia page for the3six5 was deleted: The3six5
The reason given was (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content))
I thought I had given enough of an explanation of what the subject is; I even cited a few articles. Would like to get it back up, if possible. Just tell me what I need to put in there.
Also saw you made a note about requests in Haiku form. With that, I present the following:
Saw page deleted/Please let me know what I need/To get page back up!
Thanks!

- The article was duly removed. It did not pass WP:WEB and WP:N. It was also a serious case of COI. Please read the linked pages and about citing reliable sources to understand. I've no idea what note about haiku you refer to. I dislike haiku, so that won't endear you, nor will it make a difference one way of the other of course. -- Alexf(talk) 01:23, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
article deleted
Hi. I notice you speedy deleted an article, Power Le Poer Trench, with the rationale "A10: Recently created article that duplicates an existing topic". A couple of minor points on that action. The DNB text I added was not a duplicate, it was a significant expansion, and it had a significant history, my minor copy edit would not be trivial to a new editor. The problem was being discussed, but it cannot be assumed I would work out where my version went; advising editors of deletion is appropriate. I'll also note that no source has been provided for the earlier article's title "William Power le Poer Trench", though the rationale was something about 'Common name' the variant was not forthcoming [1] ... I'll check that again with the editor, but I assume it was their error that caused the duplication of topic. I understand the solution is a to perform a history merge, unless there is a reason to hide revisions, I can explain how to do that if you like. cygnis insignis 03:21, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- I placed the A10 tag at the top of the article created Cygnis insignis because there can't be two Wikipedia biography articles about the same person, even if the text is different. The older article was titled William Trench (archbishop) (created by me) and the newer article was titled Power Le Poer Trench (created by Cygnis insignis, and cut and pasted from Trench, Power Le Poer (DNB00)). The new article has been deleted and the older one was moved and took its place. The older article did/does have sources before any recent changes this month, see here, they were/are in the References section. Scrivener-uki (talk) 18:20, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's what I saw and understood when I looked at the speedy request. Should there be a need to merge, I could userfy the article but I would not be able to do the merge for lack of time, and specific knowledge on the subject. You guys let me know if there's a need. -- Alexf(talk) 18:50, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- I would find it convenient to restore history, and I'm pretty sure there is no objection. The procedure is to delete the article [comment: "process deletion, back in a minute"], then you will able to recreate it by clicking restore [restore full history]. cygnis insignis 19:33, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- You mean restore the article? No. It would be a duplication as we already saw. In case you want it userfied and want to do a merge from please say so. -- Alexf(talk) 19:54, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- I mean restore the history, not the article. The user copy pasted the DNB version I added into the pre-existing, probably wrongly named, article. Leaving the current version is fine, it is virtually the same text. I'm not asking you to restore my version, just the incorrect deletion of my contribution in the page history. cygnis insignis 20:44, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

- This was archived, but the action I requested was not undertaken. cygnis insignis 04:52, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. Forgot about it. As you may have seen, I've been out of WP for a few days due to overload of work. I have not had time to get back to my WP projects, nor to check online as often as I normally do. I have to get back to this issue (am at work now so little time). As I remember seeing it, I can't restore because the name has been already re-used, so I'm unsure on how to proceed, what is requested. If you can't wait for me to get back with more free time for this (it might be a few more days till I get back to normal usage), please feel free to engage other admins to help you. -- Alexf(talk) 18:10, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- I think it best you do this, because it will shed light on what you appear to not understand—a trivial example of an important principle—and allow you to correct this sort of thing if it comes up again. I don't have the tool to fix your error, please ask someone else to explain it to you and fix it.
- Delete the article
- Restore the article
1) Surprising, but do it anyway. 2) Read the procedures and you can restore the full revision history. cygnis insignis 10:23, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Sounds counter-intuitive. As I am not as experienced in this area of doing this to merge histories, I have asked for help in order not to mess it up and be able to help you properly. Thank you for your patience on this. Will have it solved soon. -- Alexf(talk) 13:54, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Your block
Hi, it's me again. I saw you blocked Beenrunman (talk · contribs). However, he apologized, and his last edits were anti-vandalism. you may want to reconsider this block. Regards, --T H F S W (T · C · E) 18:44, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
- The user was blocked in November, then apologized and requested an unblock which was granted, then back at it again and re-blocked. Apologies are not enough. User has to follow the instructions in the blocking message and request an unblock specifying the reasons why s/he will help the project in the future. An uninvolved admin will then consider the request. -- Alexf(talk) 18:10, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Dennis Driscoll page deleted

- Yes, I know it was speedy deleted (specifically under A7). Is there any point to this message? I don't see a question here, just information on something I already know. Maybe you are asking why?, Or want something from it? How would I know if you don't spell it out?? Unrelated rant: I wonder why several editors have left me what they think passes for Haiku recently ("Page of musician Google searchable Encyclopedic" Huh?). Personally, I can't stand Haiku (or poetry in general), especially when it attempts to be and isn't. -- Alexf(talk) 20:25, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to respectfully request that you restore the deleted page http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dennis_Driscoll&action=edit&redlink=1. Mr. Driscoll is an active, touring musician, as well as a sometime cartoonist and "doll" maker (a bit of a misnomer). He has multiple releases on various labels, with references to him on several sites with "artist biographies," etc. (I would be happy to forward you links to said sites). In the hope that I may validate this article's restoration, I also offer that he is referenced in at least two other Wikipedia articles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dame_Darcy and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K_Records). I hope that I've satisfied the requirements for such a plea, and I sincerely apologize if I haven't. Thank you for your time.

Deletion of article on Graham Wilmer
14 January 2011 12:04
Hello, I am Rory Wilmer, son of Graham Wilmer and project manager of the Lantern Project registered charity 1097265 http://www.lanternproject.org.uk/
I would like to ask why you have deleted the article/bio on Graham Wilmer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Wilmer
Graham is linked on this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salesian_School,_Chertsey and his life/work does meet the criteria for entry.
You are suggesting that this article contained copyrighted material when I already left a note on the article explaining who I am and that I have full permission of Graham Wilmer to use the information as source and cross referenced as citation with links. Please will you remove this block on the page as it is not justified.
Graham Wilmer is a publish author, journalist and founder of the Lantern Project. I do not feel your deletion is justified and I would request that you unlock this article and allow me to continue editing it ready for publication.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly. Please also contact me directly when you reply to this message. rorywilmer@me.com

La Recoleta Cemetery
I'm assuming you deleted the external link to my blog AfterLife (http://www.recoletacemetery.com) because it is in blog format. None of the other items under ELNO apply. I would ask you to reconsider given the fact that I've spent the past 7 years researching, mapping & writing about Recoleta Cemetery. If there's any expert writing in English, it would be me. I chose the blog format because it provides the most flexibility given the topic. On December 31, 2010, user:Monsterhead150 created a page called user:Alexf/Email (which I have just deleted). Its content was as follows:
"Why did you delete my page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? Ray Navarette is real!!!!!!!!"
(and then he didn't sign it.)
You may wish to deal with him (or not, your choice). DS (talk) 15:14, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Ok. Thanks. NBD. -- Alexf(talk) 14:04, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- please disregard the question/request below, I resubmitted a new version of the page, since I believe the speedily deleted one was no longer available to be retrieved since I waited to long. Thanks anyway though.**** — Preceding unsigned comment added by Damnsell (talk • contribs) 09:05, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi , I would like to correctly add the page for Futurisk , here's the deleted page [1]http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Futurisk&action=edit&redlink=1 again, I think I didn't edit it correctly. It was deleted due to A7 (importance not stated) . I hadn't noted that Futurisk is considered the 1st electro-pop band in the American south , starting in 1979. Also notable artists such as James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem [2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LCD_Soundsystem have released tracks by Futurisk and founding member Jeremy Kolosine. Futurisk is a part of the label roster of notable label Minimal Wave Records [3] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimal_Wave . Additionally founding member Jeremy Kolosine produced the notable album on Astralwerks / EMI "8-bit Operators - The Music of Kraftwerk" [4] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8-Bit_Operators:_The_Music_of_Kraftwerk wherein Kraftwerk member Ralf Hutter worked personally on the song selection thereof. also see Kraftwerk tribute bands here [5] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kraftwerk

- Not a copyvio. What the bot found is a bad English translation saying: "speedlook.com; article text available under the terms of GFDL, from fr.wikipedia.org". The article mentioned is a horrible bot-made translation from the same Spanish-lang Wikipedia article, I have used as a source. I did not find another original from where the Spanish WP article may have been copied, so I have to AGF and accept it as sourced. -- Alexf(talk) 10:18, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Ian Zachary Whittingham and the Manic Group
Hello, I notice my article was recently deleted, i have references to support the page including magazine articles and a punch up involving boy george could you please get back to me with any tips on how i could improve the article. Should i just put up a new improved article? Ilovemanicmedia (talk) 13:08, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- The article was full of original research and had no reliable sources whatsoever. Read about biographies of living persons and what is expected of them. You seem to have a conflict of interest also which is not viewed kindly. If you are new to Wikipedia, I would suggest you read about writing your first article and also the Five Pillars which should answer many of your questions. -- Alexf(talk) 13:25, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Alex. As I mentioned, i do have internet sources as well as printed media to back the article, could you review the article if I posted an amended copy of the article on my talk with references? Ilovemanicmedia (talk) 16:43, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- I could take a look but I am not a reviewer, am not familiar with the subject and whatever my opinion is would not be binding or have any relevance to any other editor tagging the article. -- Alexf(talk) 11:36, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi, thanks again Alex, i have an amended version on my talk page with references and more to come, could you please have a look and tell me if i can post it online again? Ilovemanicmedia (talk) 18:56, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- As I said, I am not a reviewer, nor a copy editor. On a very quick look it looks better and has more sources (haven't had time to follow them to check). One thing is, you should work on it in a subpage not your Talk page which is not for creation of articles but reserved for talking with other editors. Also, please understand that my opinion on the viability or notability of the subject or the article in no way construes anything but my own opinion. As always, any other editor may question the notability, and if challenged you should be prepared to defend it with proper sources. -- Alexf(talk) 20:39, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
thanks for the advice noted, i made a new account because the last one was a bit stupid and i will attempt to repost my article thanks Omrigilan (talk) 16:25, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

McNeel Mill
I generally don't find myself disagreeing with admins in speedy deletion issues, but I believe this tag on McNeel Mill may have been hasty. The article, at the time of your tagging, already asserted notability by the number of historical societies (up to at least a state level) that had recognized the significance of the place. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:26, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Ok. Then place a {{hangon}} and explain why. I was not 100% sure even though it had no sources whatsoever at the time of tagging, so I tagged to let other people weigh on it. IMO it cannot stay as-is. You disagree. That is fine and is how we build a better encyclopedia. Thank for your input. -- Alexf(talk) 16:33, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Geek Shui Living
Hello Alexf. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Geek Shui Living, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The links provided do indicate some importance. Probably not enough for AfD, but enough for A7. Take to AfD if required. Thank you. GedUK 22:59, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- That's OK. I was not sure about it, so I preferred to let other admins to take a look and consider the issue, therefore the CSD tagging. -- Alexf(talk) 19:05, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Fluxion(artist) - Fast deletion G11
Hi Alex, I've contributed an article on the electronic composer Fluxion. I didn't even had the the time to make any additions or corrections, and it disappeared, after marked for fast deletion under the G11 rule. This article wasn't spam or promotional, it gave some basic background information on a music artist around, for 13 years, with a big catalogue of releases, considered one of the important names of the electronic music scene. So if I have to make some alterations additions, and use also some other articles written, I agree. I need to have my article retrieved, to work on it. So please inform me on how we proceed.

- You should not add a redlink entry to a list. You should write the article first. If the subject is notable and passes muster by the community, then an entry to a list could follow. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). PD: Are Haigh and jackie two people sharing an account? New section concerning a previous deletion.
Alexf,
I was tasked the privilege of creating a wikipedia page for my company's flagship website. We are an adult website. We are very prominent in the international community of colleagues we support and do business with. As you could imagine, we often run across a considerable amount of resistance when attempting to include ourselves in many of the online resources available to so many other corporations. I believe a factual, non-spam, account of our rich company history could reside on Wikipedia. As I started to set up the page, I was informed that a previous article, not submitted by myself, or any existing member of our company, was deleted. The Article was For Orgasm.com, and as I begin to conceive another page and familiarize myself with this vast space of information, I am feeling hyper-sensitive about adapting to the etiquette and co-operative nature of the established protocol regarding my contribution. As the initial article was deleted by yourself, I am feeling inclined to contact you, as the Deleting Editor, and beseech you to please inform me of any indiscretions you may remember the original page committing in order that I may avoid sullying my intentions of creating a new page. Circumstantially, I have no information regarding the requested red link or previous author. Thank you for your time. Math Pazzo (talk) 18:56, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- I have no recollection of that article as I delete literally thousands of articles in violation of rules every month as part of my admin duties. I would have to look through the database to recall, which I can't do now as I am at work and don't have the time. In any case, it is probably not important to look at the original article as it would almost surely have been deleted as one of three cases, which you should be advised to learn about and follow the rules: lack of notability, advertising or promotional in nature, or copyright violation. Either one of these three issues will lead to a speedy deletion. If you are a new editor, it will help you to learn about the Five Pillars and to look at the Business FAQ. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 19:04, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
I'm a bit concerned at the blocking of User:Himrights. I'd like to be reassured that this isn't a matter of over-aggressive Wikipolicing directed at an enthusiastic non-English native language novice. I have the impression (granted that's all it is) that an enthusiastic novice has inadvertently infringed the Wikipedia rules and then not jumped instantly when ordered to. User:Himrights was asking for advice from User:VernoWhitney only today. His/her organisation is a perfectly reputable NGO (Soros Open Society Institute grantee, etc.). I'd be grateful for your confirmation that this is an adequately merited block rather than Wikibullying. Opbeith (talk) 22:58, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- It was a clear violation of the username policy. The user has a group name and wrote an article for the same organization stating: "Himalayan Human Rights Monitors (HimRights) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit organization" and at the end of the article: "copyright www.himrights.org". It seems to me as a clear violation of policy. If an individual editor wants to write an article about that organization and source it properly, I don't see a problem. -- Alexf(talk) 23:17, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- What opportunity was given to this editor - who as I say had sought early advice from User:VernoWhitney about the copyright situation - to respond? It seems quite possible this editor is a novice who has made an innocent and easily-made mistake, which has been responded to not with advice and assistance but with an almost instant severe sanction. Opbeith (talk) 18:24, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- I should point out I'm not just referring to your block, I'm referring to the succession of warnings and notifications accumulated on the User Talk page on 25 February.Opbeith (talk) 18:30, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
Miami Beach LGBT Community
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami_beach
Some of the edits you have made seem to have been done merely to support the point of view that Miami Beach's gay community has "began [sic] a steady descent [sic]." This is not a statement of fact. It would seem you, and maybe a few other people, have some particular axe to grind. Neither I, nor any of the other Miami Beach residents with whom I have discussed this, find this "gays are all leaving" narrative to be accurate.
I have contacted the Mayor's office and the head of the Gay & Lesbian Chamber of commerce about the unfairness of what's been showing up in Wikipedia regarding the LGBT community of Miami Beach. They have said it's a perennial problem. Someone(s) seems to have a particular axe to grind, and it is getting in the way of their being objective and fair.
The truth is, the City of Miami Beach is making significant strides in reaching out to LGBT tourists, and continues to an enormously popular destination for gay tourists. We have a pro-gay mayor, and pro-gay laws. In my version of edits, I referenced this information, and then it seems you deleted it. Why? In its place, it appears you re-added the information about a now-defunct radio station that's hardly relevant information to include. There is now a hugely popular and successful Miami Beach Gay Pride weekend, which attracts tens of thousands of people. Many, many gay people live here, and they continue to come here from all over the world. It's not exactly the same as it was in the 1980's and 1990's, but that doesn't mean gay people are leaving. There are greater numbers of people here, period, so perhaps gays comprise a smaller PERCENTAGE of the larger population. But we're definitely still here. And the gay community is now much more INTEGRATED into the larger community...we're not as ghettoized as we once were. A handful of sensationalist news reports of the death of gay Miami Beach have been greatly exaggerated. It's almost as if some people WANT to drive away the gay population, by spreading false rumors.
I had included referenced data to support what I'm saying, which it seems you removed. Why?
If a handful of anti-Miami-Beach folks continue to try to malign the community here, there is the risk it will create a self-fulfilling prophesy. The LGBT fundraisers (many of which my friends and I volunteer for and contribute to), which raise critical funds for ALL of South Florida LGBT groups, will suffer.
The truth is, many of us are working hard to build a stronger LGBT community here. We have a lot of support from City government and straight allies. Why do a few people seem to want to belittle what we're doing, and cause harm to the image of Miami Beach?
The truth is, Miami Beach remains a great place to be gay. Gays here are, like in any American city, subject to occasional homophobia, and that needs to be taken seriously, just as it should be anywhere. But Miami Beach is not uniquely homophobic. To suggest that gays are leaving (or have all left, as an earlier version seemed to suggest) is unfair and ludicrous.
I hope I can count on your help in correcting the inaccurate information about Miami Beach's LGBT community.

- Could I ask what edit are you talking about? Can you point to a diff that I have done that you are concerned about? As far as I can see I reverted someone removing your text. How does that make me the villain here? -- Alexf(talk) 20:05, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
I must be mistaken. I mis-read and thought you were the one removing my text; in fact, it appears to be the opposite. You reverted back to what I wrote. My sincere apologies to you.
If I'm reading the edit history correctly, it appears that an anonymous user keeps making these kinds of changes, essentially removing any positive information about the LGBT community of Miami Beach, and including only information to support a narrative that Miami Beach is a homophobic place. Some of the earlier edits (about a month ago) were simply absurd. As I wrote about above, the Mayor's Office and the head of the Miami Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce have both told me this is a recurring problem. Is there anything that can be done stop the biased person from continuing to re-add the (poorly referenced) edits?
I have a sincere desire to present accurate information, including information that might be construed as "bad publicity" for Miami Beach. However, all the information needs to be presented in the proper context, and with proper balance. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.
Thank you. Miamibeachguy (talk) 02:18, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Fluxion (Artist) userfication
Hi again Alex, Yes I would appreciate it if you can userfy the article for Fluxion (Artist), so I can correct, and meet the standards. I understand, the reason it was deleted.
Thanks again.

- There was already a page with a two-liner article. Changed to the original deleted text at User:Reformer73/Fluxion (artist). It needs some work. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 02:20, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
why did you delete my page
I am a pro mixed martial artist, all the information is true, not sure why you deleted my page.

- Have you read the notice posted in your talk page? It explains it clearly, especially the part that says: "deletion under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time." You should also read about notability, conflicts of interest, neutral point of view and autobiographies. -- Alexf(talk) 00:32, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Ok well why can I search a ton of other professional mixed martial artists with the same significance but those arent deleted. Or other professional athletes for that matter — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eck650 (talk • contribs) 03:37, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- I can't say for others, other than they were not written by themselves in most cases. I've no idea on your sport or yourself. Just being a professional (e.g. doing this for a living) does not make you notable by itself. If you have won established awards then you are probable notable enough and somebody will write about you. We prefer not to have autobiographies. Too much risk of original research and non-neutral point of view. Please read the requirements for athlete articles. -- Alexf(talk) 11:16, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Samaritan Fundraising
Hello Alexf. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Samaritan Fundraising, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. GedUK 20:57, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- OK. Just wasn't sure and wanted a second opinion. Thank you. -- Alexf(talk) 21:48, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
