Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Quesadaburritos, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Company pages and a WP:TEAHOUSE referral

[edit]

Thanks for your thoughtful questions. I also want to compliment you on a comparatively very well-executed sandbox article. I am a bit concerned with your belief that your company "absolutely needs" a Wikipedia page. This is an encyclopedia, not a business directory or other promotional mechanism. Regarding your thought that every company's page must have initially been written by the company, I assure you that notable companies' pages largely started with volunteer writers and editors who weren't affiliated with the companies at all and wrote the articles out of a desire to spread knowledge regarding genuinely notable subjects that has been propounded by reliable sources. Wikipedia is not interested in publishing what a business has to say about itself or wants the world to hear, and the editors who are concerned about protecting the encyclopedia from whitewashing by article subjects are zealous about removing this sort of content. For real-world reasons (please keep in mind that everyone here is a volunteer; we're all doing this after hours and on lunch breaks and the like), I am of limited availability for the next few weeks, so I'd advise you to take this question to the WP:TEAHOUSE and ask the editors there for their perspectives and input on how to proceed. I don't want to be negative at you, but I want to give you a realistic picture of what kind of website this actually is, a picture that brand-new editors, who only come here for promotional reasons and haven't worked on or gotten to know the site otherwise, don't necessarily appreciate. Thanks for your patience and understanding. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 20:54, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Company pages and a WP:TEAHOUSE referral & an answer

[edit]

Hi, I appreciate your time and will contact Teahouse. I am not sure if you are familiar with knowledge graphs in Google, but it mostly uses information from Wiki without being able to change it, which is why it's important that the info is accurate and that it exists in the first place.

Also, I understand your point about being an encyclopedia but remember, Facebook was not meant to be a platform to advertise and now look how it is used...We are a company that grows with franchises, therefore Wiki is an important tool to inform potential clients as well as potential franchisees. It gives any business credibility, even if it's not its main purpose.

As you can see, we are not trying to create an article that works as an advertisement, just to be out there next to our competitors that all have a Wiki page.

Thank you for the advice.Quesadaburritos (talk) 21:04, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:AlexQuesadaBurritos/sandbox/Quesada Burritos & Tacos, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
