Thanks for the info on the updated Athlon logo. --Adam Clark(User_Talk) (email) 01:53, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Your "minor" edit there messed up the license links in the infobox - turning them red when they had been blue. [1] Please be more careful next time! Thanks. Blackcats 10:17, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
Sorry about the Vista page...I'm new to Wikipedia, and I thought you add them at the top...sorry about that. Also, I don't remember deleting anybody's comments, but if I did, I'm completely sorry. Also, was I allowed to delete the message that you put on my User Talk page? --somody 22:01, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Help
Now that you mention it, I would like to know how to add information to the infobox on my user page...it only has the field names in 3 braces (eg. "{{{name}}}").--somody 22:26, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- What you do is put the attributes in braces in your include template. Example: example WAS here and so on with every other parameter in three braces. Hope this makes sense. — Alex 22:34, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- That worked perfectly...thanks. How do I get rid of the headings that I'm not using? Is there documentation on this on Wikipedia? Sorry to bug you so much. - somody 22:47, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Vienna
Dude, seriously. WP:RS and WP:V don't get thrown out the window just because Mary Jo Foley of microsoft-watch.com provides an unattributable and unverifiable quote from a so-called "spokesman" about the change in name. Nobody at Microsoft with a name has bothered to come out and say "Yes, the name is Vienna" in the last few days. Doesn't that strike you as somewhat odd? We can trace back the origin of almost every other recent code name to a blog entry by a developer team, or a page on Microsoft's web site. Not this time. I'm not going to bother with renaming back to Windows Blackcomb, since you'll probably change it back to Vienna without bothering with that nagging Wikipedia requirement of verifiability. This isn't a race. Warrens 01:15, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Boryspil_terminal_B.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Boryspil_terminal_B.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 06:04, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Article idea
I've got an idea, and I'm curious to know what you think: "History of Windows Vista development", or "Timeline of Windows Vista development". I think between all the build information, the PDC 2003 introduction, the "restart", and other subjects like how TC and XP SP2 delayed development, we could build a really great article so that "Windows Vista" and "Features new to Windows Vista" don't have to have to cover that. Thoughts? Warrens 00:21, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Windows Vista split suggestion
I am wondering what you think about Bdude's suggestion about splitting Windows Vista in two. I think it's unnecessary, and his suggestion doesn't make a lot of sense. And you are planning on creating a Windows Vista development article anyway. Please let me know on my talk page about what you think. — Alex (T|C|E) 05:40, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think once the historical stuff gets moved away to a break-out article, the article will look a lot cleaner, and that may address his concerns fairly well for the time being. Warrens 05:49, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Windows Vista DWM and XGL
I believe that XGL, Project Looking Glass, and DWM are related. I'm curious to know why you think that XGL and PLG aren't relevent to the DWM entry. Thanks for your time. —This unsigned comment is by 4.19.111.130 (talk • contribs) .

Oops, I accidentally messed up your edits. Sorry about that, good thing the revision history is there. :-) By the way, I won't be very active in the coming weeks, have to take care of a few things. — Alex (T|C|E) 09:15, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Windows Vista Beta Testing program
Hi Alex, I've been admiring your screenshots you've uploaded regarding Windows Vista. I'm interested in joining the beta testing program, but can't find where to apply for it. I am registered on Microsoft Connect, but the Vista Beta program isn't listed. When I did finally find a link to the program, they wanted an invitation code. Do you know if the invitation codes work like invitations to Gmail, for example? If so, do you have an invitation, or do you know where I might get one? Thank you! Replacement of icons
I noticed that you re-uploaded Image:Icon_mspaint.png with the icon of it in Windows Vista. The new version of Microsoft Paint in Windows Vista are not released. We should wait until RTM version of the software is released, because it may be changed dramatically in the final version. And, the original icon is most conventional and well-known today. The same goes for your edit in Microsoft Office in 9 March 2006 [3]. This image is non-transparent and uploaded in the GIF format. Office Online uses still the one in Office 2003 and not Office 2007. License tagging for Image:SVG test.svg
Thanks for uploading Image:SVG test.svg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:05, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Continental Airlines logo.png)
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Continental Airlines logo.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Can you provide some support for you universal (act) article? I've never heard the word used in this context and can find no citation on the web. eaolson 02:46, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Image:Boryspil terminal B.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Boryspil terminal B.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --– Quadell (talk) (random) 19:38, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

- Hi, do you know if it is allowed to make photographs in Boryspil airport? If no, then we have a good case that the photograph cannot be replaced with a free image since the photography is forbidden there. If the photography is allowed, maybe we can ask a wikipedian from Kyiv to make a photograph for us. There are many Kijans on Wiki 05:51, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I don't know anybody that's willing to do that. I'd be glad if we got a higher resolution photo that's licensed under GFDL. — Alex (T|C|E) 06:27, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Windows Vista Desktop.png
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Windows Vista Desktop.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Windows Vista logo.svg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Windows Vista logo.svg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
