My RfA
Your gigantic support is much appreciated. I wanted to ask you more about ARS, as it's an area of Wikipedia I'm only passingly familiar with. I read the main page, and I think I have the idea. I think it's somewhere I could do a lot of good, though I'm not as well-versed outside of my top content areas. I don't know how many baseball articles pop up there... Anywho, drop a line on my talk page if you like. Thanks again! KV5 (Talk • Phils) 02:17, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- You are welcome! I always try to be original and not just vote in RfAs. You can help the ARS by addressing the concerns held for any articles listed at Category:Articles tagged for deletion and rescue, usually by expanding them and adding sources (by the way, if you can help with the article I am trying to get a DYK for above, that would be great too!). Not all articles that are listed there are rescuable, as I have argued to delete in such discussions as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Laws of compression, but usually a rescue templated article means an editor familiar enough with Wikipedia to find the rescue template beleieves in good faith that the article has merit and per WP:AGF, Wikipedia:Editors matter, Wikipedia:Don't demolish the house while it's still being built, and Wikipedia:Give an article a chance, it is far more crucial that we give our contributors (who are also likely readers and possible donors) the benefit of the doubt and help to save the article. Generally speaking, the way the ARS works is:
- 1. Someone nominates an article for deletion.
- 2. Someone else templates the article for rescue in the hopes that the ARS will address the concerns of the deletion nomination and thereby "rescue" the article from deletion. Key here is not just "voting" to keep in the Afd, which certainly helps, but also editing the actual article as well.
- 3. If possible, we article rescuers do just that, i.e. improve the article in whatever ways we can and then...
- 4. ...the improvements are noted in the AfD.
- 5. All reasonable participants in the discussion acknowledge the improvements and if they previously said to delete, change to keep or some compromise per WP:PRESERVE and User:T-rex/essays/the more redirects the better. Unfortunately, we typically come across at least a couple unreasonable accounts who would rather dig in to "win" the argument than be open-minded (some quite viciously so!), but the better the improvements, the easier it is for their stubborness to not catch on and in the end it is more important that we err on the side of knowledge that is relevant to someone than not.
- If you succeed, you can add a life preserver icon a la User:A Nobody/awards. The first thing I recommend doing is checking out Wikipedia:Article_Rescue_Squadron#How_to_become_a_member_of_Article_Rescue_Squadron. Anyway, thank you for your interest! Best, --A NobodyMy talk 20:24, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- KV5, I would add to AN's fifth point that those that continue to !vote delete are often doing so out of their good faith belief that the changes have not sufficiently addressed their policy and guideline-based concerns about the article. Although individual editors may have a wide variety of opinions about each others' motivations at AFD, administrators should assume good faith when reading and closing deletion discussions.--Chaser (talk) 20:59, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Giants27, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Can I borrow this page of yours and convert it for my own use? Also, xeno mentioned a template that you give to people who've had their first article deleted. Would you mind telling me where to find the template? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:37, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

RfA thankspam
Hello, A Nobody! This is just a note thanking you for participating in my recent Request for Adminship, which passed with a total of 93 support !votes, 1 oppose and 3 editors remaining neutral. While frankly overwhelmed by the level of support, I humbly thank the community for the trust it has placed in me, and vow to use the tools judiciously and without malice. |

Relisting notice
Per Spartaz's request, I am notifying you that this discussion that you participated in has been relisted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Una Healy (2nd nomination) in the hopes to gain a more fair consensus due to the participation of three sock puppet accounts in the earlier discussion. The three sock accounts that checkuser confirmed are the same person voted to delete or redirect and made multiple edits to the discussion which closed as "redirect" and therefore may have created a false impression of consensus by vote-stacking. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 20:01, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Source request
Hullo again Mr A. Nobody. If I remember correctly, you're the guy with access to the Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine, I was hoping that you might have a particular issue that could help me out. Specifically I'm after EGM issue 233, from October 2008: there's supposed to be a feature on undead characters in games, and I could really use the full transcript of whatever they say for LeChuck. If you do have that issue, would you awfully mind typing up the relevant bit and emailing it to me please? Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it was you who added the reference to it in the first place, seems like your sort of edit from back then. I'm about to commence a major cleanup of that article, as was recently done for Elaine Marley, and since that's the only potentially solid reference currently in the article, it seems like a good place to start. -- Sabre (talk) 23:28, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, here is what they say in Scott Sharkey's "EGM’s Top Ten Badass Undead: Thriller night" from page 106 of that issue about that character: "8 Monkey Island series (PC): LeChuck A not entirely brilliant villain who usually clues you in to his weakness (hint: it's always voodoo), LeChuck's versatility makes up for what he lacks in common sense; he shows up as an evil ghost pirate, and an evil undead-demon-zombie-ghost pirate. That covers the undead-pirate spectrum." Best, --A NobodyMy talk 00:48, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, guess I was expecting it to be a bit longer. No matter, that's good, I can use that. Thanks. -- Sabre (talk) 11:02, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:PlayStation 2 Resident Evil 4 covers.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:PlayStation 2 Resident Evil 4 covers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:30, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Please be my Mentor
Can you please adopt me? I am working on a computer based article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:PCJain/sandbox). The article currently resides in my sandbox. I am new to Wikipedia and intend to stay here. However, I need your guidance a to write a good wiki article. PCJain (talk) 16:58, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, I will gladly adopt you. How can I help? Best, --A NobodyMy talk 23:35, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Hello!
AS suggested on my talk page, I went through the Wiki articles about Peacock terms, Conflict of Interest and FAQ/Organization. I have rewritten the article in my Sandbox space in an effort to not sound like a promotional article. Can you please review the article and give me your feedback? I also would like to tell you that I am new to Wiki Content Development but do enjoy it. This is my first article. I will make every effort for an article to get live than to have it deleted. Looking forward to your critical feedback.PCJain (talk) 09:12, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hello! I am dealing with a family health crisis and am rather busy, so sorry for any delays on responding this past and coming week. Anyway, your articles is well organized and well referenced. My main suggestion, would be can you put a section at the end that provides commentary/review type of remarks from newspapers concerning the subject? The best way to prevent deletion and keep a neutral based article would be to add a section that reveals what outside authorities have said in the media or in journals about it. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 21:36, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
Fictional Technobabble speakers
I wanted to take time and say "Thank you," for being the one who was willing to understand my vision and intention of the category I made for Fictional Technobabble speakers. I just don't understand why the other wikipedians are so against it. What harm is having this category doing to anyone wiki??? After all we have an article on it, so why not list notable fictional characters who daily speak it, like Egon Spengler?
I deeply find both the word itself, and the fact that a person can make up pseudoscientific words to make things sounds fancy and meta-intelligent, very interesting and addictive!! Not everyone in the fictional universe uses technobabble - and that's what I was trying to shed light on with the category. Human beings don't even hear and use technobabble on a daily basis. My intentions were good, but the reaction and debate is as if I committed a "wikicrime." I greatly thank you for your time and support. LonerXL (talk) 07:01, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- You are welcome and I agree that it is indeed a WP:HARMLESS category. By the way, if you are ever worried about a fiction related article or category being deleted, you can always transwiki it to this wiki, which is a fiction and popular culture based Wiki that welcomes everything on popular culture and fiction that is 1) not a hoax, 2) not libelous, and 3) not a copyright violation. Fair use rationale for File:Karaoke revolution games for PS2.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Karaoke revolution games for PS2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:40, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Saw
Hello there, I noticed you are a member of the Saw task force, and therefore have foreknowledge of the Saw series, making you an editor with qualifications to review an article under the scope of Saw. I hope am I not bothering your editing, but I would like to bring to your attention that List of Saw media is currently being reviewed for a possible featured list status, but there is currently a major backlog in the amount of articles waiting to be reviewed. I would like to encourage you to participate in the discussion, found here, if you are interested. If you believe I am disrupting your editing or that my message was an attempt to sway your opinions per WP:Canvas, please let me know so I may fix my methods of bringing this conversation to editors attention, I am simply trying to prevent a backlog on the WP:FLC page. The WikiProject Saw Newsletter
Issue V - September 2009 | |
|
Welcome to the fifth issue of the WikiProject Saw's newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do. It happens once a year... the Friday before Halloween... yes, the sixth Saw is less than a month away from release. Seeing as there is already a director and writers attached (See Here), VI will most likely not be the final entry to the series. Saw VI will be released in theaters on October 23rd. Also, a Saw first, a video game is coming to join the Saw family. Not based on any movie in particular, the game has an original story set between the first and second Saw films. The game will release alongside Saw VI in October. We would encourage all members to get more involved and if you are wondering what with, please ask either user CyberGhostface or user GroundZ3R0 002, they are more than happy to direct your help into any part of Saw that needs it. |
