Kww's AfD

This may be a good point at which to stop commenting (as the editor to whom you replied pointed out). The RfA is going to fail; you are not helping yourself by accusing others of issues that may not exist. Just helping out here. Black Kite 00:40, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

On one hand I see where you're coming from and as such will probably refrain from saying anything further (it's Easter Weekend, so I am busy with family anyways). Yet, I have always found "support per oppose" to essentially violate WP:DICK and be deliberately provactive if not baiting or trolling for a response, i.e. stuff that perhaps should be ignored per WP:DENY, but that you about want to call people out for. People should argue their stance based on the candidate under discussion, not the other participants in the discussion, but yeah in this case it is pretty obvious that any bureaucrat going by strength of arguments rather than numbers would have to take greater into account that 37 opposes of which several have multiple reasons for concern versus that usual reflexive support "votes" rather than explanations, so probably not more needs to be added and I probably shouldn't take the bait. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 18:34, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

This is beginning to border on slander

In what universe is saying "Blecch" "acting like I'm going to vomit"? It's really ironic for you to go to such levels of hyperbole in your opposition here, and then accuse me of holding a grudge.—Kww(talk) 23:23, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

After months of calling for me to be banned, mischaracterizing my edits and even after I explained them, referring mockingly to my old username, etc. you have never made any real effort to reach out to me, something I have done repeatedly to editors who have been harsh with me (such as at User_talk:Sephiroth_BCR/Archive_21#Of_probable_interest_to_you... and User_talk:Thumperward/Archive_32#Keep_your_chin_up) in the hopes that maybe despite any past animosities some kind of reconciliation would be possible. Now, these aren't always well received, but despite some rocky past experiences, I have had some pleasant interactions with editors like Randomran and Collectonian and even though I am maligned as an "extreme inclusionist", I have gone out of my way to defend Doug Tech, a userbox indicating deletionist. I have conciously reduced my editing at AfDs, conciously make an effort to argue to delete more regularly, all in the hopes of satisfying those who don't say try to argue to keep more often. I have tried working on DYK and colloborating on a Good article, but none of that seems to matter. Indeed, no matter what I do to help out here you still paint a vicious picture of me whenever an opportunity presents itself. Heck, I am even stepping back from the notability discussions, because I know I have a strong opinion and as the community does not have to please me, it is probably best to allow more neutral editors to work on the compromises. Yet, apparently who cares what good I do. Rather, you keep dismissing me in every venue from talk pages to editor review to ANI. Now if it were just about me, then who cares other than us? But this lack of forgiveness or willing to assume any good faith is actually consistent with the idea that those you disagree with are vandals, whether it is me, Pixelface, or the writers of fiction related articles. So much stick rather than carrot. So much vinegar rather than honey. As such, indeed, it suggests a real grudge and a real concern that as an admin you might continue to view your opposition in such a light. Now, I really, really hope in such an event I am wrong and hope that maybe somewhere along the way we could come to an understanding as I have been able to do with a number of past rivals, but other past experiences have suggested that once some have made up their mind about whole groups of editors, it is difficult to change their opinion. If it seems like I'm pulling out all stops in my oppose...1) I have to in order to make a strong a case and 2) I am actually in my latest additions trying to be somewhat fair by focusing only on 2009. All I can say here is if you don't have grudges, show me otherwise and you'll find I'll indeed be receptive. I'm sure Randomran can tell of less than fun interactions he and I have had and yet even so, as I said at User_talk:Randomran#Want_a_mop.3F_.282.29, he has proven himself as one whom I have probably been on the opposite side in most AfDs, but has been open to compromises, has been willing to reach out to opponents, etc. where I wouldn't oppose him at this point and might even support. Heck, I came really close to striking my oppose in Thumperward's RfA as well. The bottom line is I don't want to be seen as an enemy to anyone, nor do I want to see anyone as an enemy. But I can't be the only one who tries to make up for the past. Others have to be receptive and proactive as well and in instances where I can't really cite much to that effect, what else, what other impression could I have? Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 23:46, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

RfA criterion

I'm pretty sure that "best user page ever" is not an acceptable criteria. :) I hope you are prospering. Have a great weekend Nobody and thanks for the laugh. ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:52, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, it is in my world. Napoleon once said, "If you do not like dogs, you do not like fidelity, you do not like those who are attached to you, and therefore you are not faithful."[1] So, you appreciate the loyality of the hound as represented on your userpage. And loyalty is an admirable quality. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 03:57, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Bowow or woof. Or whatever the appropriate response is. Perhaps some howling? Just not at night when I'm sleeping please. ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:14, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, I could not tell you there, but if nothing else, I try to take a break to watch some movies with my parents on Thursday: Boogeyman 3, Funny Games, and The Midnight Meat Train. Boy, not exactly the wise choice of films to be uplifted! SPOILER ALERT: ALL of the main characters (protagonists) in all three films either wind up dead or in one case becomes a killer. Rare that three movies in a row I watch would have unhappy endings... Kind of a downer as a result. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 04:18, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Discussion on your !vote on Foxy Loxy's RFA

Hi A Nobody,

I have started a discussion here to seek wider feedback on your recent comment on Foxy Loxy's RFA. This is not meant to pressure you to change your vote (you are, after all, entitled to an opinion), but merely to see whether such !votes are viewed positively by the wider community.

Cheers, Lankiveil (speak to me) 03:48, 12 April 2009 (UTC).

I'm not sure if you noticed, but I have already struck my oppose. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 07:11, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
No worries. I did try not to make the comment at that page overly personal, and I truly don't have anything against you on a personal level (indeed, I believe that you have the best interests of this project truly at heart), but the fact that we disagree so widely on a number of issues does tend to make cooperation between us somewhat difficult, regrettably.
One thing that I was going to approach you (and DDG and some others about) was to have a bit of a review of my admin tool usage since my promotion last year to see if you think I'm making any objectionable deletions or skirting the line too closely in other areas. I truly meant what I said to you shortly after my promotion about wanting to win you guys over, and while I perceive I'm doing a decent job (I certainly feel I'm turning down a lot of bad A7s, almost to the point of... inclusionism), it can never hurt to gain constructive criticism if it's available. So, if there's anything I've done with the tools that you perceive as being overly deletionistic, I'd be very interested in hearing.

Best wishes, Lankiveil (speak to me) 08:28, 12 April 2009 (UTC).

Well, I unfortunately can't see your deleted contribs, so I can't really say much regarding speedies, do you have any specific nominations that you are curious what I thought of? And similarly, you are welcome to offer suggestions at User:A_Nobody/RfA#Suggestions. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 21:22, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I just transwikified http://honorverse.wikia.com/wiki/Elysian_Space_Navy but I did it by hand, simply by copying content there. Is there any way we can merge pages histories? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:41, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, use this and then this. All of the wikis should have them, but on ones other than the Annex you have to be an admin. Were I an admin (and in this case I am willing to be one) on the other wikis, I would be willing to help in such an effort. Anyway, we have to retain the attribution histories per the GFDL. How do you feel about a new search option for wikipedia, to make everyone happy?

Do you think this would work? I wanted some opinions, and suggestions on where to post it at. Dream Focus 02:52, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Interesting idea. I would like to see something that allows for greater connections among the various wiki, like a super wiki that interconnects all the wikis (really waht we should be...), i.e. there should be one master wiki for which everything that is fair game for all wikis is included on, i.e. some kind of inclusionpedia where only hoaxes, copy vios, and libel are removed and whack concepts like notability and "cruft" don't exist. I largely agree as I said on Black Kite's talk page. I should not have taken the bait here, but at the same time, the hook shouldn't have been baited in the first place. Regards, --A NobodyMy talk 21:07, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Good call. I really want this all to just be resolved so I can resume my break. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 21:02, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
A nobody, it appears like the mutual topic ban will go into effect, except for the AfD provision. This means that Jack can, and most definetly will, still follow your edits in AfDs, and can point to the failure of Section #4 as justification. For the failure of #4, you have DGG to partially thank for this, as not supporting #4 was his idea first.
This means you need to be very careful not to be baited in AfDs. Based on your past history, I fear that this is exactly what will happen. I suggest that you no longer watch AfDs, as I do. You comment once: then don't return.
After my two week vacation, I sadly realized that wikipedia will go on without me, and the causes I support will still go on without me too. I'm not as important or vital as I though. I think the same goes for you too. AfDs will probably be saved or deleted despite your intervention.
If you do as I suggest, these more concise comments in AfDs may teach you how to be more concise and focused, with less train of thought writing. this is a lesson you desperatly need to learn. Ikip (talk) 09:29, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I wonder if there is a case to be made for every editor only being allowed to !vote/comment once on any particular AfD, and for any other comments to be placed on the talkpage? It'd certainly make reading (and closing!) long contentious AfDs easier. I know AfD is meant to be a discussion, but discussion can always take place on the talkpage, and I'm sure admins would quickly pick up on reading the talkpage before closing if the result isn't clear. Black Kite 09:45, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I was starting to think the same thing as the to-ing and fro-ing trying to get the last word exchanges seem to be real flashpoints. Casliber (talk · contribs) 09:53, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
AfD talk pages are chronically underused right now anyway. This would be a good move. Basically, "if you want to comment one someone else's comment, take it to talk" would be the wording I'd shoot for. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 10:16, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to move this to WT:AFD for wider discussion. Black Kite 10:20, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Good idea. Casliber (talk · contribs) 11:18, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Butting in cuz I happened along; isn't that what we do for RfC/U, restrict discussion to the talk page? I don't know how that will affect the AFDs (since a lot of people may not be tempted to look at the talk page, and might therefore miss comments which may sway them one way or the other) but it might be worth a shot? BOZ (talk) 17:09, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thanks for your participation in my recent Request for adminship.
