Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Balloon release has been reverted.
Your edit here to Balloon release was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.facebook.com/PlasticFreePadstow/videos/417093518752571/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 13:55, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Count Count. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Christopher Chope, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Count Count (talk) 07:21, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Richard Stanton

[edit]

Hi, the wordpress source you keep inserting at the Richard Stanton page is self-published. Self-published sources are generally no considered acceptable per WP:RSSELF. The reference currently in use is a reliable source (the BBC) and supports the content already. It is preferable to have the BBC source rather than an unreliable self-published source. Enwebb (talk) 17:30, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I know Rick Stanton. I interviewed Rick Stanton for this. I will insert the article from the PADI website instead.
Jason Mallinson LEAD the Pozol Azul cave exped. He should be named as leader! You do not know anything about cave diving. I do. https://www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/oakes-diver-jason-mallinson-world-4986915
I did not imply that you did not know Rick Stanton (nor is it relevant in writing an encyclopedia). I was just informing you of Wikipedia standards for articles. You can say that Mallinson lead the expedition if you add a reference that says he was the leader. The current reference does not explicitly state leadership. You can add second reference that supports your assertion. Enwebb (talk) 17:40, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

eeerr so the newspaper link that I provided above that states "The 42-year-old former Moor End pupil led a team on a two-and-a- half day life-risking dive into the unexplored Pozo Azul cave system in Spain." does not count??!

Rick told me that his mother suggested that he watched the TV programme that got him interested in caving.

And what is wrong with the PADI link? It gives you his reaction. His statement about how happy he was at receiving the award.

Are you no longer going to allow me to edit and contribute to wikipeida on diving?? Please unblock me.

You have not been blocked, but rather, the page has been protected because your edits are not following Wikipedia policy. Am I to assume that you are Rosemary Lunn? If so, I caution you against removing reliably-sourced references in favor of your own work. This could be in violation of Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest guideline. Other issues you were running into is that Wikipedia supports verifiability; if you add content to an article, the burden is on you to prove, with a reference, what you say. If you are going to add that someone is a leader of an expedition, you need to add a reference to the page in question after the information that supports what you said. Responding to me on your talk page with a URL is not the same as adding a reference to the page. Other guidelines you may not be aware of include civility. By coming to your talk page and starting a dialogue with you, I was genuinely trying to be helpful. Responding "You do not know anything about cave diving. I do," is not very polite. You should assume good faith with your fellow editors and assume they are trying to help. It may seem like there are a lot of rules around here, but you will pick them up quickly if you stick around and are willing to learn. Enwebb (talk) 19:00, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry but I was really getting very frustrated at my work being deleted. And my stuff contains good data. It contains quotes from the source, not a mash up that some journo has put together. And there is a lot of rubbish being spouted at present re Thaliand rescutes.

I appreciate that you are willing to help, and apology accepted. I encourage you to make an account, as several pages are blocked from editing as an IP address, which you currently use. The protection on the Richard Stanton page is going to expire on July 6th, after which I look forward to seeing your contributions. You might be interested in joining a WikiProject or two, which are associations of editors interested in working on the same topics. WikiProject Caves or WikiProject Underwater diving might be of interest to you. A few more tips: when communicating with other editors on a talk page, it's standard convention to "sign" your posts by typing 4 tildes after your statements (~~~~). This will autofill your signature (your username if you create an account or an IP address if you don't). And again, exercise caution when citing yourself. A glance through your edit history shows that many pages you've edited have consisted of adding references to your own work (The Darkness Beckons, Dick Rutkowski, Balloon release, and International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers, in addition to Richard Stanton). You could be temporarily blocked from editing if an administrator (which I am not) determines that your account has a single purpose to advance your own profile/interests in violation of WP:PROMOTION. Take care, and drop a line on my talk page if you need help or, alternatively, ask a question at the Teahouse. Enwebb (talk) 20:51, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. No I am not looking to advance my own profile / interests. I write about many aspects of scuba diving, hence I am adding updates to pages where I have written about the subject. Unfortunately the main stream press does not always write accurate information and data about diving. There is a heck of a lot of rubbishing being spouted at present over Thailand caves. 79.69.85.57 (talk) 21:29, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
