I would like to create a Wikipedia article for Deidre DeJear the democratic nominee for Iowa Secretary of State in 2018 and is running in the 2022 Iowa Gubernatorial race. But I can't start to create the article because when I search the name Deidre DeJear in the search box I click on the name and it automatically redirects me to the Wikipedia page of the Iowa 2018 secretary of state elections. There is no Wikipedia page for Deidre DeJear but I can't create one because the name redirects to the elections page. Even when I search up pages containing Deidre DeJear it says there is a page for Deidre DeJear but it isn't an article about her it just redirects to the 2018 Iowa secretary of state elections.

You could simply edit the redirect page into an article, but the notability guidelines for politicians state that merely seeking public office does not merit a person an article. Unless the person meets the more general definition of a notable person, they would not merit an article unless they win their election. 331dot (talk) 01:37, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
