Hello, I'm I dream of horses. I noticed that you recently removed all content from JVC Broadcasting with this edit without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, I restored the page's content. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{Ping|I dream of horses}} to your message. (talk to me) (contributions) @ 01:52, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... I am the owner of a TV station in the US Virgin Island-WSVI. I used to think this was a reliable service and I have been a contributor over the years. I have gotten a real wake up call. Someone -It seems by the name 'I Dream of Horse' has been enetering lies about who owns my business and the lies have been attributed to JVC Broadcasting Company, an entity I know know nothing about.

For the record-using your own info on the WSVI wikipedia page here is the owner of WSVI and WZVI TV http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/sta_det.pl?Facility_id=2370

And here are the stations owned by JVC. Note there is no mention of a TV in the Virgin Islands as you report in Wikipedia. http://www.jvcbroadcasting.com/our-stations Even though I have made changes this person comes back and changes the changes.

What is going on with you people?

Telling me who is doing this so I can get my lawyer involved. Thank you

Hi. I'm a real person who uses a pseudonym to edit.
Going about blanking pages is an unwise idea. Legally threatening people isn't, either, by the way. Wikipedia disclaims itself from validity here, because, as the disclaimer says, "Even articles that have been vetted by informal peer review or featured article processes may later have been edited inappropriately, just before you view them.". In my opinion wikipedia a good starting point for research, but a horrible ending point.
Under the circumstances, you should probably contact editors who are experienced in this sort of situation. info-en-q@wikimedia.org is a good email to email in situations such as these. You can also read over Wikipedia:Contact us - Subjects, which has further advice. I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{Ping|I dream of horses}} to your message. I have informed the user on their talk page to address the issue directly. Feel free to let me know if you need anything on my talk page. --JustBerry (talk) 02:40, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 02:23, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request for contact

[edit]

Hi David. You seem to be deeply confused by events going on here on Wikipedia. I'd be happy to explain them to you. We can talk here, at my talk page, or you can contact me via email: wikiwikiwoo1221 at gmail dot com. I am a Wikipedia administrator, which you can see at my entry in the userlist here. However, I'm going to have to ask you to retract your threat to get your lawyer involved if you'd like to continue editing Wikipedia. Wikipedia policy states that individuals pursuing legal action against other editors over their editing are not permitted to contribute to the site. Blocked.

[edit]
Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked temporarily from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.  Jayron32 06:43, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note to anyone who reviews this case: unambiguous legal threat here: "who is doing this so I can get my lawyer involved" This user went on to attempt to intimidate other users rather than to engage users in civil discussion, for example, here where they claim to file several "complaints" against another user to force them off an issue during a disagreement. This kind of intimidation is antithetical to Wikipedia's core values. If the user wishes to be unblocked, they need to retract their statement, and express an understanding of what was wrong with it. --Jayron32 06:43, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

David Lampel

[edit]

If you are the owner of any business(es) you claim to be, then perhaps you would consider contacting the correct department, where you may, however, eventually need to prove who you are. Please write to the Volunteer Response Team at:

info-en-o@wikimedia.org

who will address your issues. Harrassing our volunteer article editors or defacing the articles will not dvance your cause. Thank you. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:37, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I seriously doubt this editor is David Lampel. The IP resolves to a hotel WiFi hotspot in Massachusetts. —Farix (t | c) 14:34, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
TheFarix, Lampel signed one of his IP edits with his mame. And if you look above, you'll see I already put the IP banner on the top of this page. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:06, 1 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A word of advice

[edit]

I think you are more likely to find other editors respond favourably to your requests if you:

  1. come across as making civil requests, rather than as making threats,
  2. assume that other editors you are dealing with are acting in good faith, even if you disagree with them, and calmly explain to them why you think they are mistaken, rather than treating them as though they are acting maliciously,
  3. show an understanding that it is necessary to provide reliable sources to support claims you make: since anyone can edit Wikipedia and make any claims they like, we can't accept something as a fact just because someone or other comes along and tells us to, but we can accept something if it is supported by reliable source.
