[edit]Hello, I'm Me Da Wikipedian. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Lockerby Composite School have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 12:54, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi:
- I am editing on behalf of a publicly funded high school. The current information for the school is incorrect and needs to be updated. I believe the information that was written and from a neutral perspective. I believe the references were also used appropriately.
- Are you able to possibly please review the contributions again, and revert the changes that were made?
- Thank you for your considerations. 208.96.69.226 (talk) 13:00, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your interest in working on Wikipedia. There are a couple of problems with your submission. You cannot post copyright material on Wikipedia even if you are the copyright holder or have their permission, unless special documentation is in place. That is because Wikipedia aims to be freely distributable and copyable by anyone, and all content must have the appropriate documentation in place before that can happen. Please see Wikipedia:donating copyrighted materials which explains how it works.The second problem is conflict of interest. Writing an article about your own organisation or that of a client is strongly discouraged, as it is difficult to maintain the required neutral point of view. According to our terms of use, paid editors and people editing on behalf of their employer are required to disclose their conflict of interest by posting a notice on their user page or talk page. I have placed some information about conflict of interest below. — Diannaa (talk) 13:36, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, 208.96.69.226. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Lockerby Composite School, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 13:36, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
