[edit]Hello, 198.120.15.117. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Michoud Assembly Facility, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. You specifically stated that your edit was on behalf of a governmental organization. Scorch (talk | ctrb) 20:27, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- How would you recommend going about correcting false information from made-up citations? 198.120.15.117 (talk) 20:29, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hey,
- I initially reverted the edit because your account appears to be in conflict with the above-referenced policy. Your IP address resolves to one being owned by NASA. However, you are correct in stating that the content was unverifiable and the sources used were unreliable, therefore I have not re-added the content. Sometimes incorrect and unverifiable information gets added to an article and is overlooked for a long time and that appears to be what occurred here. Scorch (talk | ctrb) 20:58, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- @MrScorch6200 I appreciate the consideration, despite the circumstances. I'm not a NASA employee, to be clear, just working on site and closely with that office, and was trying to research some history, getting the broad strokes here. It's been quite a wild rabbit hole trying to chase that lead. 174.69.127.25 (talk) 03:02, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]Thank you for valuable edits and work in exposing an unfortunate hoax. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 23:12, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Infrogmation posting from my phone now, but you wouldn't believe the internet journey I've been on today, spanning YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, something called KSP Wiki, made-up publication companies' pages, and back here on Wikipedia. (I think I might've encountered you laugh reacting our merry prankster on the page he fabricated? The frog part of your username "jumped" at me. He seems harmless but a little too committed to the bit.)
- I appreciate the appreciation though, especially from someone so esteemed in the Nola community and dedicated to the history! Cheers to you as well, sir. 174.69.127.25 (talk) 02:59, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
- Holy smokes, you've been doing work cleaning up that user's mess today. I feel like I owe you a beer/lunch/something! 198.120.15.117 (talk) 16:37, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
