Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Mehmana, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Only extended confirmed users are authorized to edit topics related to politics, ethnic relations, and conflicts involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, or both — broadly construed, per WP:GS/AA. AntonSamuel (talk) 15:26, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Mehmana and whole Nagorno-Karabakh is under the control of Azerbaijan. That's why I edited this article. What did I wrong? Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 20:43, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As I stated previously, only extended confirmed users are authorized to edit topics related to politics, ethnic relations, and conflicts involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, or both — broadly construed, per WP:GS/AA. AntonSamuel (talk) 17:28, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't mean that you have right to revert changes wrongfully. It is the fact that whole of Nagorno Karabakh is under the control of Azerbaijan. Both de-facto and de-jure it is part of Azerbaijan. Why you are insisting to revert changes? You violate neutrality rule here. Okay, if I can not edit these articles, so do it for me, if you are looking for the truth. Don't keep articles as outdated and wrong. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 07:14, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning: WP:GS/AA

[edit]

Over the past few days you've made talk page comments suggesting that articles related to Nagorno-Karabakh be retitled. While talk page comments are usually fair game for protected articles, WP:GS/AA (alongside a few other contentious topics measures) specifies that non-extended-confirmed editors may not make edits to internal project discussions related to the topic area, even within the "Talk:" namespace. Internal project discussions include, but are not limited to, AfDs, WikiProjects, RfCs, RMs, and noticeboard discussions.--emphasis mine, as RM refers to move (i.e. renaming) requests.

Further violations of WP:GS/AA will result in blocks. I'm going to include the standard CTOPS notice for Armenia-Azerbaijan topics so that you are aware of it and can read through its explanations. signed, Rosguill talk 15:19, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So, @Rosguill How I can contribute these articles even if I don't have any ability to discuss in talk pages? Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 18:06, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are not supposed to be contributing to these articles. To protect against sockpuppetry, new accounts are prohibited from editing certain contentious topics. Go get some experience editing other topics that are less controversial and come back when you have 500 edits and a strong understanding of relevant policy and guidelines. signed, Rosguill talk 20:19, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Rosguill So, after 500 thorough edits, I am eligible to edit these articles? Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 21:34, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but please note that attempting to rush your way to 500 is against guidelines (WP:PGAME) signed, Rosguill talk 21:39, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, no worries. Thanks for informing. @Rosguill -- Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 21:41, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related conflicts, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

InMerge Innovation Summit moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to InMerge İnnovasiya Sammiti. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no content (except for the infobox). I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. —Alalch E. 16:10, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on InMerge Innovation Summit, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello Əhməd Qurbanov. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Əhməd Qurbanov. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Əhməd Qurbanov|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:49, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear, Seraphimblade, I am aware of paid advocacy rule, and I do not and will not receive any compensation for my article. Please, consider that. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 11:31, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, how are you connected to the InMerge Innovation Summit? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:15, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
InMerge is the first such signficant event about innovation in my country and the region. I am so interested in this type of events in my country. So, I am fully volunteer in creating this article. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 19:26, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So you're volunteering for them? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 19:52, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't read that in necessarily that way (after all, editors are all volunteers too). Still, even if the promotional aspect was from being a fan rather than than payment, it's not going to fly either way. Articles have to be neutral, and not promote anyone or anything. In practice, I've seen fans of something write stuff every bit as promotional as paid PR people. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:56, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Seraphimblade I read it in a "It could go either direction" sort of way. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 19:58, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I dream of horses and Seraphimblade, I am just the volunteer in Wikipedia, first of all. And regardless of my position to the event, I wrote the article neutrally. I don't promote anything. You can see and check through the draft page of article. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 20:07, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the article was so non-neutral, it was speedily deleted. The draft is an improvement, but there's room for further improvement. Context for talk page watchers: this diff. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 22:18, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong, I know the paid advocacy rule, and if I receive any compensation, I will disclose. So, I do not and will not receive any compensation for the article. Please, consider that. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 14:45, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What is the nature of your relationship with this topic? You must disclose if you expect to receive compensation; you don't have to actually have it in your hands. Note that paid editing is not limited to specific compensation for edits(otherwise every paid editor would deny being specifically paid to make edits). 331dot (talk) 14:31, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
331dot, I wanted to write an article about it because the number of participants in the event, its notability in the region and in Azerbaijan, and the number of independent and reliable sources writing about it have increased. This year, third edition of event is expected, and in my opinion, it will be organized in the future as well. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 14:59, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That explains your motivation, but does not answer my question. 331dot (talk) 15:01, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
331dot, I will not receive all means of compensation. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 15:04, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That again does not answer my question. What is the nature of your relationship with this topic? If you dodge the question again, I will block you as a promotion only account. 331dot (talk) 15:11, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
331dot, I don't dodge the question. I just want to get the sense of question. Can you please explain to me what exactly you mean by nature of relationship? Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 15:22, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What is your association with this event? 331dot (talk) 15:38, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have any association or relationship with the event. I created this article solely for the reasons you stated as motivation. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 15:43, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you aren't associated with the event, it seems like you are, because you wrote a perfect advertisement for it. The text is, to be frank, wholly unsuitable as an article. Any article about this event must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage say about it. You've only documented its occurrence and its activities. What makes this event an important event according to independent sources? 331dot (talk) 15:52, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Have you considered creating an article on the Azerbaijani Wikipedia about this event? Each language Wikipedia is a different, separate project, with their own editors and policies. What is acceptable on one is not necessarily acceptable on another. If your text would be acceptable on the Azerbaijani Wikipedia(translated), you should focus your efforts there. 331dot (talk) 15:54, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
331dot, I created more than 50 articles in Azerbaijani Wikipedia. My text is acceptable on Azerbaijani Wikipedia. I am open to feedbacks and I will fix all the issues. I don't understand that what is expected to be written in the article about innovation events? Should I make all the sentences as "per source, the summit brings together technology entrepreneurs, companies and startups."? I've already put a lot of references to support the sentences in the article. Can you give an exact feedback that how I can improve the article? Can you show me a good example similar to this article? Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 16:18, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do independent sources say is important about this event? That it "brings together technology entrepreneurs, companies, and startups" is not in and of itself significant. Many events do that. What is special about this event, according to sources? 331dot (talk) 16:23, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As for an article about an event, try E3. (a former event, at least) 331dot (talk) 16:27, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to work issues on the article. Thanks. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 16:37, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
