Haleiwa is the musical alias of the Swedish musician Mikko Singh. Haleiwa releases records on the Japanese label Friend of Mine Records.[1]
Biography
[edit]Haleiwa is a musical project from Stockholm, Sweden that is led by Mikko Singh. The music is very much inspired by warm, tropical places like Hawaii, Panama and Costa Rica. Haleiwa strives to make uplifting and positive music, and wants to spread a good feeling to the world. The aim is to make the listener feel like they are on a tropical beach, and at the same time the melodies are a very important part of the music. His musical influences include Tortoise, Unwed Sailor, Eluvium and Jack Johnson.[2]
Haleiwa has been making music since 2005, and the style has evolved on every record, from the first record with a lot of electronic sounds and poor recording technique to mostly instrumental world music with exotic instruments like the sitar and the kora, to more tropical vibes on the album named Pura Vida dude. In 2010 Haleiwa signed with the Japanese record label Friend Of Mine Records. Haleiwa is currently working on their upcoming full length album that is planned to be released in 2014.[needs update]
Haleiwa started recording 3 CD-r albums before releasing his official debut Pura Vida Dude in 2010.[3] In 2013 Haleiwa announced that he's working on the second album.[2]
