PokerTrainingNetwork[1] (PTN) is an online poker education company with its concentration in all variations of the game of Texas Hold 'Em. Their product is delivered through instructional poker software and tools and is incorporated with a multi-level marketing (MLM) business model. PTN's learning center uses Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL or Poker-Tel[2]) as its primary teaching method. Poker-Tel consists of an interactive media learning center of tutorials, lessons, and assessments as well as its own game room allowing members a non-gambling environment to play and apply what they’ve learned. Marketing claims promote PTN as the world’s first and only MLM company to feature poker products.

Company Overview

[edit]

PTN charges members a one-time fee to become an affiliate of the company and a monthly subscription for access to the Poker-Tel Learning Center.

The company's slogan "Learn[3], Play[4], Earn[5]" is a direct reference to its three-dimensional focus on poker education, the PTN Poker Gameroom, and its network marketing business model. In addition to profits from product sales, affiliates of PTN can earn additional commissions from sales by their "downline" affiliates.

PTN Corporate is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and its production office is located in Pompano Beach, Florida. According to company sources, PTN was founded in 2007 by Dennis Nadeau. Nadeau serves as the company's Co-Founder and CEO[6]. PTN went into pre-launch on September 8, 2009.

PokerTrainingNetwork.com has also developed a Social Media website[7].

Poker-Tel

[edit]

The PTN Poker-TEL Online Interactive Media Learning Center features a library of Basic, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert topics and tutorials on the subject of Texas Hold ‘Em. Poker-Tel stands for Technology Enhanced Learning and consists of tutorials, lessons, and assessments. This media library does not focus on one particular playing style, instead it teaches a consensus of poker techniques from various established systems. The focus at PokerTrainingNetwork.com is to present the information in a method that forces the individual to learn and think for themselves and therefore engage in a personalized system of play, not endorse a "PTN-recommended style of play". Although the research and content development department is made up of some full-time and part-time poker professionals, the educational philosophy of the company stems around the extensive and thorough research presented to the student, not the person(s) delivering the information.

Other Product Overview[10] Poker-Edge

[edit]

PTN also features a product called Poker-Edge Suite of Tools[11]. The Poker-Edge Training Products are a suite of poker coaching tools and evaluation programs that are designed to work in conjunction with the Poker-Tel Learning Center. These applications are seamlessly integrated with the user's playing actions from the PTN Poker Gameroom. Poker-Edge customers have the ability to receive instant results and feedback based off their own personal hand history data.

Some of the features of Poker-Edge include The Expert Advisor, which tracks how many times the user "misplays" sound poker concepts (based on the PTN curriculum) and directs the user back to a group of specifically targeted lessons within the Poker-TEL Learning Center to address areas of weakness.

PTN Results Tracker

The PTN Results Tracker has two features. First, a player can choose specific starting hole card combinations and obtain hand history and profitability results for those cards over a selected time range. The information includes a breakdown by the user's table position and individual actions throughout the different betting rounds. Secondly, the sessions tab generates a player's overall return on investment along with other data for a user-selected time range.

PTN Poker Performance Simulator

The Poker Performance Simulator was developed using in-game testing scenarios. Through a player’s responses to a series of simulation based playing scenarios, the simulator identifies a player’s unique playing style (tight-passive, tight-aggressive, loose-passive, loose-aggressive) and the results are displayed within profiler charts.

PTN Desktop[12]

The PTN Desktop gives the user the ability to navigate between all of the PTN applications, and also includes an internet browser.

PTN Poker Game Room

Only Texas Hold 'Em games (No Limit, Fixed Limit, and Pot Limit) are available in the Game Room. Weekly sweepstakes tournaments with cash prizes are offered with no entry fee.

Business Builder System[13]

PTN provides a business opportunity for its independent sales representatives, known as PTN Affiliates. Affiliates gain access to PTN products, set up their business center and marketing website, and then enroll other PTN Affiliates into their own personal PTN Business.

The Business Center includes marketing materials, promotional items, business card templates, PowerPoint recruiting presentations, and a personalized marketing website.
