The Moose Fire, named after the Moose Creek drainage, was a large wildfire that started on July 17, 2022, within the Salmon-Challis National Forest in Lemhi County, Idaho, near the community of North Fork. Before being fully contained on November 10, 2022, it burned 130,205 acres (52,692 ha; 527 km2; 203 sq mi).

The Moose Fire was first reported on July 17, 2021,

Cause

Forest Service officials have stated the human-cause fire was started by an unattended campfire. The individual who left the fire unattended has never been identified.

Containment

The fire was 100% contained on November 10, 2022. At one point, over XXXX personnel were fighting the fire.
