Content and target audience
[edit]The Community of Knowledge's primary goal is to focus on making content, knowledge, and discussions related to knowledge management practices more open and available to interested parties such as service providers, researchers, and authors interested in making their work and research findings open access. Furthermore, it aims to promote exchange of knowledge and experience between experts and interested users.
In 2012 the Community of Knowledge carried out a survey among their users regarding their background and interests and published the results. The study found that the majority of readers defined themselves as practitioners (58%) or "interested users" (51%) while 32% defined themselves as researchers and 27.5% as service providers. Between the subjects under the broad scope of knowledge management, the majority of the participants expressed their interest in KM methods (86%), trends (58%), experience and lessons learned (55%), and technologies & products (47%).[3]
Open Journal of Knowledge Management
[edit]The Community of Knowledge publishes the Open Journal of Knowledge Management two times a year. The journal is an open access publication on knowledge management. The first issue of a year focuses on a specific topic within the broader scope of knowledge management. The second issue presents the most popular articles of the past 12 months.
