The Leadership Challenge The Leadership Challenge is a research-based leadership methodology and framework developed by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner that develops leaders through a measurable, learnable, and teachable set of behaviors. The Leadership Challenge framework grew out of rigorous research that first began in 1982 when Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner interviewed thousands of leaders about their personal best leadership experiences. What emerged were five fundamental practices common to extraordinary leadership achievements, now known worldwide as a practical, evidence-based, and sustainable framework for developing leaders: The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®
