Murder of Anni Dewani Suggested Changes

[edit]

I would change this >>In his plea bargain agreement, Zola Tongo stated that Anni's husband, British national Shrien Dewani of Bristol, had offered R15,000 to have his wife killed.<< to "Zola Tongo alleged that Anni's husband had offered R15,000 to have his wife killed."

Then >>Following an application by South African authorities, Senior District Judge Howard Riddle ruled in August 2011 that Shrien Dewani could be extradited to face charges in relation to the murder.<< To "Following an application by South African authorities, Senior District Judge Howard Riddle ruled in August 2011 that Dewani could be extradited to face charges in relation to the murder." because while it keeps the surname of the husband in the text, it reduces his identifiability and may go some way to easing BLP concerns. For the same reason, I would remove the first name wherever possible in the article.

I would remove this paragraph >>Following a long legal battle, in January 2014, the English High Court of Justice rejected Shrien Dewani's plea against extradition to South Africa,[13] and he was extradited to South Africa on 7 April 2014 and taken to court on 8 April 2014.[14] The cost of the extradition to British taxpayers was £250,000.[15]<< from the lede.

Reading the background section on Shrien Dewani, I can understand why it might raise BLP concerns. Would there be anyway of reducing the information.

I would remove this sentence >>He then challenged Shrien to return to South Africa, commenting that South African police should not rule anyone out of the investigation.<< from the investigation section.

I would remove the "Inconsistencies in Shrien Dewani's version of events" section and the Max Clifford section immediately beneath it.

I would change >>Monde Mbolombo was granted full immunity from prosecution, in exchange for his truthful testimony against Shrien Dewani. This plea deal was granted in accordance with Section 204 of the Criminal Procedure Act.<< To "Monde Mbolombo was granted full immunity from prosecution, in exchange for his testimony against Shrien Dewani. This plea deal was granted in accordance with Section 204 of the Criminal Procedure Act."

I think the extradition section needs a re-write.
