Abercynon Paul Mansell (24 Dec 1966) was born and brought up in Abercynon he was educated in Mountain ash, Mid-Glamorgan then moved to Witney, Oxfordshire, England. For the past thirty years Tom has worked in manufacturing management after training as a work-study engineer with Hitachi back in the 80's.

Paul decided to write When kids could play outside after noticing just how much fun & freedom the young generation of today have been deprived of.

When kids could play outside is author Tom Evan's pen name Paul Mansell perilous, hilarious memoir of brazenly growing up a boy in the 1970s in a small mining town Abercynon

Its a true account of every adventure, every embarrassing memory, every wild and crazy idea, every moment of that shining possibility that lies before the cusp of adulthood, shared here with humor, honesty and affection for the people and places that shaped the author's life and the man he was to become


[2] Life and career [edit] Mansell was born in Abercynon, a coal-mining village north of Cardiff, his father Terry was a miner at Treharris pit and mother Sandra worked in Abercynon opticians for over 20 years, As a boy his passion was football and he would go on to win the South Wales cup with Abercynon at under 16's level, many years later he was a founder member of Cynon Celtic and AFC Abercynon both teams that he managed and played for.
