GTI Club: Supermini Festa! is a racing video game developed and released by Konami originally for the arcades in December 2008. It later released with some additional content on the Wii and PlayStation Portable in 2010 under the same name except in Japan where it was renamed GTI Club ワールドシティレース (lit. GTI Club: World City Race).

GTI Club: Supermini Festa! is the successor to GTI Club: Corso Italiano and the third installment in the GTI Club series. It keeps the nonlinear gameplay introduced by the first game, with tracks containing several routes and semi-hidden shortcuts that can be used to reduce lap times. A heavy emphasis is placed on exploration, drafting and chaotic driving. GTI Club: Supermini Festa! introduced new cars, tracks, and various single-player and multiplayer game modes including two- to four-player split screen. Online multiplayer was supported until the discontinuation of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in May 2014. The game received a generally mixed to positive reception from critics upon its release. They enjoyed the easy-to-pick-up controls, fast-paced action and vehicle customization the game offers but were disappointed by the lack of gameplay depth.

Console version gameplay

[edit]

GTI Club: Supermini Festa! offers sixteen cars, five tracks and three game modes: Arcade, Quest and Online. Each track is made of a fictional city based on a selected country, featuring France, Italy, Japan the United Kingdom and the United States. The France track is specifically based on the Côte d'Azur, sharing its layout and environment with the track from GTI Club: Rally Côte d'Azur. Drafting, driving on sidewalks and using ramp trucks give the player a slight speed increase. The game offers players a selection of micros and superminis, primarily featuring compact models from European manufacturers like the Peugeot 207 GTI, the Autobianchi A112 Abarth and the Renault Clio V6 RS.

Arcade mode

[edit]

Arcade mode is the main game mode of GTI Club: Supermini Festa!. This mode contains itself eight different mini game modes: Tomato Festival, Coin Collecting, Bomb Tag, Traffic Escape Race, Time Attack, Prize Grab, Car Football and 2-on-2 Car Football.

Traffic Escape Race consists in three-lap races of four players, human or computer-controlled, on one of the five available tracks. Each track has an easy, a medium and a hard variant. Easy forces the player to go through the same road on each lap, medium changes the road each lap, and hard opens every road to the player to create a form of open world.

In addition to standard racing, GTI Club: Supermini Festa! includes an array of vehicle customization options, allowing players to personalize their cars with various colors, parts, and decals.
