[edit]American Military History
[edit]Why is it the USAF is considered a second-class military force? There's plenty of information and structure for the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves, and probably Boy Scouts. There's precious little contiguity - even just information - on the Air Force? I joined up in the Air Force after being offered some pretty choice jobs from the other forces. Why? Because I believed (and still do) that the US Air Force is the most technologically advanced military force in the world.
All this being said, in this technological forum called Wikipedia, there's scarce little information about the foundations of the Air force, and how this fledgling Army Air Corps grew from flying biplanes in a field to launching missles in the middle of the great Northern prairie! I just hope I find others with a desire for a neutral-point-of-view (the great NPOV……) addition to this encyclopedia for all the Air Force notable things. I'm going to begin with the organizational structure, then move on from there. We'll just have to see if I survive! :-)~
make SAC userbox- make separate pages for each USAF MAJCOM, both historic and current
- make separate pages for each USAF NAF (Numbered Air Force), both historic and current
- separate USAF divisions from long list page (see Strategic Air Command divisions), make separate entries for each division (ALL divisions, including those not listed)
- make separate pages for each USAF Operational Command, both historic and current
- separate USAF wings from long list page (see Strategic Air Command wings}, make separate entries for each wing (ALL wings...)
- make separate pages for each USAF group, both historic and current
- POSSIBLY make separate pages for each USAF squadron (not sure if it would be appropriate to go to this level of detail, but this IS an "unlimited by paper" encyclopedia after all....)
- format all USAF units to be approximately the same (consistency of layout and design)
organize a USAF portal (somthing akin to the USMC and USN portals already in existence)- POSSIBLY organize a USAF task force under the project US Military History. (kind of a sub-task force kind of thing....)
- organize the Wikimedia images of the Air Force and expand where needed (there's very little there!)
After I finish, or during the work process (if I need a diversion), I want to work on the following also:
US Army portal....- USMC organizational structure (vested interest because of close family friend, and she can help too!)
- expand and work on USMC and USAF band articles
- for instance, the USMC band article is just about the "President's Own" Marine band. What about the other Marine bands that are out there playing their lips off?
- history of the music the military bands play (admittedly mostly JP Sousa, but there's others too)
- NDARNG
- NDANG

- update and expand articles of "sites of interest" in and around Des Lacs (Trestle Valley RR bridge comes to mind immediately....)
Michigan
[edit]- update and expand articles of local townships and cities in and around Farmington Hills Michigan(where I grew up)
- add a "human touch" to the Farmington Hills Michigan article (sounds too much like a 'cut and paste' job - there just for the statistics, not enough prose)

- update and expand articles of "places of interest" in and around Farmington Hills AND Alpena (3-Mile Dam in Alpena comes to mind immediately...)
