Born in Manchester in 1962 and educated at Bemrose Grammar School, Derby, then at Ilkeston Grammar School, Ilkeston and later, a period abroad, joined National Air Traffic Services, a directorate of the UK's Civil Aviation Authority.

Currently living in Buckinghamshire and a company director of Thame Players Theatre Company as well as being the in-house Technical Director.
