Joseph John Gribble is a character on the animated series King of the Hill. Born in around 1984, Joseph is is the 14-year-old son of Nancy Gribble and, ostensibly, Dale Gribble. Joseph is one of Bobby Hill's best friends. His character was voiced by Brittany Murphy as a prepubescent in 1997-2000, and by Breckin Meyer as a pubescent in 2000-2009.
Despite Joseph's obvious Native American features, being strikingly similar in appearance to John Redcorn, and the fact that his middle name is "John," neither he nor Dale is aware that Redcorn is his biological father, the result of a 14-year affair with Nancy. Dale refers to his Jamaican grandmother to explain Joseph's dark complexion. Redcorn's occasional awkward attempts to get closer to Joseph (against Nancy's wishes) lead Joseph to regard him as strange and creepy. Joseph is something of a pervert, sexually objectifying almost all girls with the exception of Connie. In some episodes, he has displayed an infatuation for Connie, particularly when she and Bobby are at odds.
