Miss Venezuela 1987 was the 34th Miss Venezuela pageant, televised live by Venevisión. It was held at the Teatro Municipal of Caracas in Caracas, Venezuela on February 6, 1987.

At the end of the event, Bárbara Palacios of Trujillo and Miss Universe 1986 crowned Inés María Calero of Nueva Esparta as Miss Venezuela 1987. She represented Venezuela at the Miss Universe 1987 pageant placing as 3rd runner-up.

Also, María Begoña Juaristi of Zulia crowned Albany Lozada of Portuguesa as Miss World Venezuela 1987. She represented Venezuela at the Miss World 1987 pageant placing as the 1st runner-up.

Finally, Nancy Gallardo of Portuguesa crowned Vicky García of Municipio Libertador as Miss International Venezuela 1987. She represented Venezuela at the Miss International 1987 pageant placing in the Top 12.

Background

Location and date

The Miss Venezuela pageant was brought forward three months before the traditional date, going from being held in May to February; because the then Miss Universe Corporation decided to move the pageant ceremony forward to May 27. As a result, the Miss Venezuela Organization was forced to move the date forward.

Pageant changes

This was the first edition where the Miss International Venezuela title was awarded.

Departmento Libertador and Departmento Vargas changed their names to Municipio Libertador and Municipio Vargas, respectively.
