Julie Spira is a well-known author and online dating expert, businessperson, social media strategist, technology entrepreneur, netiquette expert, media personality and sought after dating coach. She is chief executive officer of Cyber-Dating Expert, LLC, an online dating and mobile dating advice and coaching company she founded in 2008, and Social Media and More, a social media strategy company she founded in 2009.[1][2][3] Her book The Perils of Cyber-Dating: Confessions of a Hopeful Romantic Looking for Love Online[4][5] was listed in the Top 5 Must Read Books for Women on JDate.[6] In 2010, she was listed as one of the Top 10 Columnists to Follow on Twitter by relationship advice site Your Tango.[7] Spira writes about the marriage of love and technology on Huffington Post[8] and is a frequent guest in the media on the subject of online dating, netiquette, and cyber-relations.[9][10][11][12]
Background
[edit]In 1977, Spira was hired as the first female on-air personality at radio station WAAL-FM in Binghamton, NY.
In 1981, she was made Manager of Affiliate Relations at RKO Radio Network in New York, NY, the first digital-delivered satellite radio network in the United States. She was promoted to Director of Affiliate Relations in 1982 and opened their west coast office in Los Angeles in 1983.
From 1987 to 1995, Spira was vice president of radio sales in the radio division of IDB Communications Group, a satellite transmission company.[13]
From 1997 to 2001, she was executive vice president of sales at InterPacket Networks, a global satellite company providing high-speed Internet to emerging countries.[14]
In 2009, Spira became the host of Ask the Cyber-Dating Expert, a weekly dating advice radio show on BlogTalkRadio, where she has interviewed online dating site managers and relationship experts, including Sam Yagan from OkCupid; Dr. Gian Gonzaga from eHarmony; Shayan Zadeh and Alex Mehr from Zoosk; Christian Wiklund from Skout; Greg Liberman from JDate; Dr. Helen E. Fisher, chief scientific advisor at Chemistry.com; Whitney Casey, Relationship Insider at Match.com; and Michael I. Norton from Harvard Business School.[15]
She holds a bachelor of science degree in television-radio from Ithaca College.[16]
Books
[edit]Spira’s book The Perils of Cyber-Dating: Confessions of a Hopeful Romantic Looking for Love Online is a tell-all memoir spanning over 250 online dates, as well as dating advice guide for singles interested in Internet dating. The Santa Monica Daily Press called it “a must for this generation of singles, both male and female, who are into cyber-dating.”[17] Elle Magazine’s E. Jean Carroll wrote, “It's like Sex and The City in a Web 2.0 World."[5]
Spira’s second book will be titled The Rules of Netiquette: How to Mind your Manners on the Web.[18] No release date has been set.

Spira is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post.[8] Her writings on cyber-dating have also appeared in Match.com,[28] JDate,[29][30] eHarmony,[31][32][33][34] and Zoosk.[35]
