2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs
[edit]The 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs was the playoff tournament of the National Hockey League (NHL) for the 2024-25 season. The Western Conference playoffs began on April 18, 2025, and the Eastern Conference playoffs started on April 19. The playoffs ended on June 17, 2025, with the Nashville Predators winning their second consecutive Stanley Cup as they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers four games to one in the Stanley Cup Final.
Nashville made the playoffs as the President's Trophy winners after earning 122 points on the year. The Predators set franchise records in wins and goals scored (372), becoming the highest-scoring team since the 1992-1993 Pittsburgh Penguins. The Buffalo Sabres returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2011, breaking the longest active playoff drought. The new longest drought belongs to the Detroit Red Wings, who have not qualified for the playoffs since 2016. In addition, the Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks made the playoffs for the first time since 2017, while the St. Louis Blues returned for the first time since 2021.
