Crescent Varrone is a novelist. Shadows in Summer was published by Amazon BookSurge in December, 2009. This novel is unusual in that it employs multiple first person narration throughout what is otherwise a fairly traditional Haunted House story, set in the Svanemølle neighborhood of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Born in Queens, New York in 1964, Varrone attended St. Bartholomew's School in Elmhurst. "Last in and first out" of Jesuit flagship Regis High School (he was taken off the wait list, and graduated first in his class, in 1981), Varrone went on to Williams College, where he graduated in 1985. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Norway in 1985-86, and a Herchel Smith Scholar at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a "First" in 1988.

After six years as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co., he held various executive positions in the US before moving to Denmark in 2005, where he wrote Shadows in Summer. He continues to work in the corporate world (most recently as Chief Strategist for Vestas Wind Systems), and speaks regularly at international conferences on alternative energy.

He has stated that his writing has been influence by Barbara Kingsolver, Umberto Eco, and John Fowles, among others.
