VACANCIES FOR FSUU (FATHER SATURNINO URIOS UNIVESITY)

[edit]

In 1901, out of the chaos of the era, the Butuan Parochial School was re-established by Fr. Saturnino Urios, S.J.. The first pupils held classes in a low brick building adjacent to the old church. Fr. Jose Buxo, S.J. was believed responsible for the government recognition of the parochial school.

In 1935, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) took over the missionary work from the Jesuits. In 1939, the high school was opened. This became Fr. Urios High School.

After the ravages of war, reconstruction was began. In 1947, the high school department turned out of its first graduates. In the early 1950's a school building made of wood was constructed along San Francisco Street to take the place of the old brick structure which was demolished to make a room for a new church.

In 1950, the college department started with a two-year commercial course. More degree programs were introduced in the succeeding decades. These years also saw the addition of new buildings to accommodate the growth of the student population. In 1976, the MSC fathers turned over the care of the school to the Diocese.

In July 10, 2006, Urios College was granted its university status and was henceforth known as Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU).

The elementary and high school departments moved to a new campus in Brgy. Libertad in June 30, 2008.[1]
