Militant atheism may refer to:
- State atheism, government promotion of atheism, particularly in the Soviet Union.
- Society of the Godless, also called "The League of the Militant Godless".
Various writers have been called militant atheists
- Charles Bradlaugh (1833-1891): Elected Member of Parliament in England in 1880, he claimed the right to affirm (instead of taking the religious Oath of Allegiance), but this was denied.
- Madalyn Murray O'Hair (1919–1995): American atheist activist, and founder of the organization American Atheists. She is best known for the 1963 lawsuit which led to a landmark Supreme Court ruling ending government-sponsored prayer in American public schools.
- New Atheists Five writers (Richard Dawkins, Daniel C. Dennett, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, and Victor J. Stenger) who wrote several best-selling books on atheism first published in 2004.
