Hiiiiii!!! I am a casual Wikipedia lurker who occasionally makes edits. Reading wikipedia is a hobby of mine, and I have probably read more Wikipedia than I have actual books. I am from Washington DC, and I have lived here my entire life. I am also very interested in genealogy, and often do what I can to improve my ancestor’s pages. Speaking of which:
Flushing Remonstrance - Not an ancestor page, but one of the signatories, William Thorne Sr., is my direct paternal ancestor. It is also the foundation for the first amendment. Good on William for being religiously tolerant!
John Bowne - Another Flushing guy. Argued in Dutch court for religious freedom and won. His house still stands to this day.
Elizabeth Fones - Puritan turned Quaker whose divorce trial scandalized New England
Elizabeth Tuttle - Puritan woman from New Haven, Connnecticut. Her family had severe mental illness, culminating in her brother Benjamin killing his sister Sarah, and her sister Mercy killing her son. I am a descendant of the Tuttle family through Joseph (twice), Simon, and Mercy (the one who killed her son). The story of the Tuttles is one of the most interesting stories in my family.
Jón Arason - An Icelandic catholic bishop who fought against the conversion of Iceland forced by Denmark. Was later executed along with his illegitimate sons, marking the end of the Catholic era in Iceland.
