Philosophy

[edit]

Wikipedia is a project that should prioritize quality as an encyclopedia. Reliable sources based on WP:VERIFY (verifiability principle) are crucial. While WP:NPOV and Good Faith Collaboration are foundational, WP:STYLE and other guidelines (WP:GUIDES) are best-effort obligations.

Even short articles or single-source articles have value if they
  • Meet verifiability standards (WP:VERIFY)
  • Have highly reliable sources like AFI/BFI(film-related) or official statistics
  • Are supported by secondary sources, not just primary sources
Effective editing methods
  • Appropriate review through NPP (New Page Patrol)
  • Article preservation through draft conversion and redirects
  • Proper use of WP:RS (Reliable Sources)
The Articles for Deletion (AfD) process yields constructive results through
  • Quality improvements via PROD (Proposed deletion) and WP:DINC (Deletion Improves Wikipedia)
  • Clear evaluations based on WP:GNG (General Notability Guideline) and WP:SNG (Subject-specific Notability Guidelines)
  • Constructive discussions through votes (not mere polling, but policy-based judgments)

This systematic approach enhances Wikipedia's reliability as an encyclopedia.
