Ilyana Malinova Iotova (Илияна Малинова Йотова, born on 24 October 1964 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian politician and Member of the European Parliament. She is a member of the Coalition for Bulgaria, part of the Party of European Socialists, and became an MEP on 1 January 2007 with the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union.


She currently is a full Member of the Committee on Fisheries, the Committee on Petitions, and on the delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly as well as being the Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Vice- Chair on the delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

She is also substitute on the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs , on theCommittee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs,and on the delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union.


Education


1989: Bachelor and Master's degree in Bulgarian and French Philology from St Clement of Ohrid University, Sofia.

2007: Specialist studies at the Ecole nationale d'administration (ENA), Strasbourg.


Career


1990- 1997: Bulgarian National Television: editor and presenter of the news programme 'Novini'; director of the News and Current Affairs department

1997- 2005: Director of the press service of the Bulgarian Socialist Party

Since 2000: Member of the Supreme Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party

2005- 2007: MP in the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria

Since 2007: Member of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament
