Concise WP
[edit]I seem to recall that you recently began a discussion about the feasibility of a concise version of Wikipedia. This subject has some bearing on an article I am preparing for an upcoming version of Signpost. Could you supply me with the link to the relevant discussion page, or to any other forums in which you have aired this matter? I'd be most grateful. Brianboulton (talk) 16:51, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Hi Brian, yes the discussion took place at here. It had some support including Jimbo and a few foundation members but was almost forgotten about until I brought it up again. Even if it doesn't become a separate wikipedia I believe we should have a micropedia mode of English wikipedia, rather like a traditional book encyclopedia with only 100-500 words depending on level of scope for quick reference and then links for each one to the full articles..♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 18:14, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Doc, that is most helpful. I will try and absorb the discussion in the next few days; if necessary, I'll ask you for further clarification, if you don't mind. Brianboulton (talk) 21:55, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- If you support the idea, add your name to the list on metawiki. We currently have 34 supports. I don't know how many we should have to make the project pass and be started but my gut feeling is that we should introduce a new mode within English wikipedia itself rather than starting a separate project which displays information in a virtual book format with decent article summaries like in a traditional concise encyclopedia. Then at the bottom of every snippet a "read full article" link is given.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 09:14, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

Improving Wikipedia and the need for change
[edit]I have read with great interest the views you have recently summarized on your user page about the problems now facing Wikipedia. You are absolutely right that there appears to be unjustified resistance to change as can be seen by the difficulties you have faced in gaining support for a number of sensible and well-founded proposals aimed at improving the encyclopedia. Those deserving close attention include the need for a Concise Wikipedia (even if it can be handled within the existing Wikipedia framework), better translation support, and above all the urgent requirement for real improvements to existing articles (particularly the most popular ones). Your suggestion that editors should be encouraged not only to write new articles (or aim to bring the odd article up to GA or FA standard) but should be able to gain some kind of credit or recognition for improvements to existing articles in the Stub, Start and C Classes coincides fully with my own assessment of the way forward. It is indeed astonishing how many articles given ratings of Top or High Importance are still just C or Start while new topics of lesser importance rise to B and GA virtually over night.
I hope the powers that be will appreciate the need for action in these areas and will provide support. In the meantime, other Wikipedia editors should at least consider whether they can afford to spend some of their time on improvements to the most important articles in the encyclopedia. Useful lists of the most popular pages in different areas can be accessed from Wikipedia:Lists_of_popular_pages_by_WikiProject or simply from Category:Lists of popular pages by WikiProject. Contributions to better referencing and sourcing for popular articles as well as special attention to the quality of article leads (to insure they clearly present a summary of the key facts) would do much to bring Wikipedia up to the standards our users expect.--Ipigott (talk) 16:20, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes indeed. Glad you noticed the pointers. Well, we could draw up a list of say 100 articles which we think most urgently need work based on their notability/page views. We could work on some really core geographical articles like Pacific Ocean or Burma or something. No countries should have tags like that really.. 13 sources for an article on something as important and widely documented as the Pacific Ocean is outrageously under researched.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 16:30, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Italian poet
[edit]The poor chap doesn't seem to have aroused much interest even on Italian Wikipedia. If no one else does so first, I'll see what I can do. However, offline life is chaotic at the moment and I expect to have other Wikipedia tasks, so it will be a while. Yngvadottir (talk) 15:16, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
- OK, I merged content from Italian Wikipedia into the article, hopefully with reasonable success. I've noted some puzzling discrepancies on the talkpage. I haven't yet made a serious search for sources - I merely stumbled on several literary and biographical encyclopaedia entries when trying to find out what exactly his birthplace was, politically and administratively speaking (apparently a little town called Condamine held by the Lantosca family, near Nice and within its territory, but not technically the city of Nice). I tracked down the actual title of the Æsop work (the Æ, which Wikipedia doesn't like us to use, has been read as an M by Google's software parsing Britannica) but failed utterly to find the Epigrams - should be Epigramme. I hope the living in a cave with a rooster and wearing threadbare clothing turns out to be referenceable, but I haven't seen it yet in Italian .... Yngvadottir (talk) 19:55, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
[edit] Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).
So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along. A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk) This message was sent out by --EdwardsBot (talk) 15:10, 9 June 2013 (UTC) |

- The Pacific Ocean seems a bit overwhelming, and the closed Korean railway station underwhelming. Burmese opium is in between. I was in Chiang Rai in 1979, on leave from Saudi, went to a small town by a bridge on the border and was offered a smoke by an old man. There was a settlement down in the valley, Kuomintang people, off limits. There must be a lot of history. But the French music halls are distracting me. Aymatth2 (talk) 23:16, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
- You think the Pacific is more important than Kohs? It is a bit bigger, of course, but more important? There could be different opinions about that on Wikipediocracy ... But seriously, I started an article a long time ago on the Great Rift Valley, Kenya, and keep meaning to expand some of the "see also" sections, but it is such a massive subject I always end up doing something simpler. I find it a lot easier to focus on point-form topics. A comment: the ocean was first explored and settled by Austronesian peoples. The article is far too slanted to the much later European "discovery". Somebody should do something about that. :~) Aymatth2 (talk) 12:16, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- An obscure abstract topic is not all that hard. Just stick in the search term, see what comes back and then shuffle it into some sort of structure. That will not work with the Pacific. Too big. I note failure to mention Robert Louis Stevenson, Herman Melville, Paul Gauguin, Thor Heyerdahl and Nicolai Michoutouchkine, among others. Also birds, fish, turtles, el nino, tsunami and tourists. It is a huge topic. Aymatth2 (talk) 15:12, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Improving Wikipedia
[edit]Interesting essay on your user page; I do a lot of little fixes all over the place so I see thousands of articles which are in desperate need of updating. I don't know if some kind of group discussion could be made to put forth some of these ideas and get the ball rolling on some changes. I hope the new visual editor system will make Wikipedia friendlier for new editors, but that alone will not fix the culture around here. What matters most to the community does not appear to be the content; but a sense of control, elitism and bureaucracy. A single editor can oppose or disrupt even the best of intentions and the best changes; but the avoidance of core topics is part overlooking and part interest related. If enough of the top 1% editors (those responsible for the majority of content, edits and actions) come together under a common banner, actual change could take place. We would need more access to research materials; some incentive system like badges/medals/ribbons/small prizes/etc., a redefining of "edit value" and a major rethinking of IP and new editor support. Wikipedia has become bloated by its own internal systems and it leads to less productivity and more self-destructive acts. Ownership of articles and hostility at positive changes; no matter how small or seemingly insignificant shows a concerted effort to drive away improvements; I'm sure you've had such instances. The more prolific the editor, the harder to watch articles. I have some ideas; but lack the support and forum to present and implement such ideas. Like an article vetting system where editors who check and verify an article can stamp it as "Vandalism/OR/error-free" for future use in offline publication or as a special revert revision in extreme cases of prolonged and ingrained vandalism. I'd do more content stuff if I had the materials and a focus as well; but I am focusing on the janitorial work because small errors are just as bad as missing content. If even a fraction of the community puts their minds to it, great things are possible. Afterall; you are one of the pillars of content creation; just imagine 5-10 other people doing the same work you do! ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:04, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Not any longer though, I don't create many new articles nowadays, just a handful a week now! I'm more of the "one brick at a time" school of thought now that the "one housing estate uncompleted" at a time if you know what I mean.. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:44, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- You still make more articles than I ever have in that single week. I'm a corrector of small issues which improve Wikipedia by preventing tedious over re-examination from other users and improving the functionality and appearances of the articles. Having lots of mid-size start and B class articles instead of a single GA or FA seems like a better route; because few people make articles and they won't be the ones improving that article which doesn't already exist. Anyways; do you have access to some major research library or something? I'm just stunned with how much content you create. It is kinda inspiring. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 14:27, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
You'd be amazed what a combo of google books, Highbeam Research and mainstream newspapers can achieve!! Tens of millions of missing articles!! I think we should be trying to achieve a GA level of quality for all articles. In a lot of cases it might not be possible but even the most obscure of topics we can still create something decent. But if you just browse about the website, a satisfactory start class level would suffice for most and we're not even achieving that more often than not.. Do a test, click "random article" 10 times. Count how many articles are unsourced or need referencing/updating refs and count how many are adequate B class articles.... ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 15:38, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

DYK Las Vegas in the 1950s
[edit]I'm not the one doing the review, but you might want to tweak the article's information about Elvis, and the photo of Elvis and Ann-Margret. Elvis looked a whole lot different in the 1950s, but I don't see any images of him on Commons from that era. I left a note about it on the DYK template. — Maile (talk) 21:51, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, yeah, by the way. I don't see a mention of it in that article, but when Elvis performed in Vegas in the 1950s, that's when he hooked up (banged her) with stripper Tempest Storm. There's a really famous photo of the two of them in Vegas. She wrote about in her book, too. As I recall, she had him jumping over the fence where she was living, to commit an act of amore with her.. — Maile (talk) 21:55, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- Here a link:The King and the Burlesque Queen, — Maile (talk) 22:02, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, feel free to add anything to the article. The Elvis image is from 1964, I thought that accpetable, that was the nearest one I could find related to Vegas and the 50s, 4 years too late, rather than 15 years and Fat Elvis, now that would be inappropriate!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:04, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
I saw this essay quoted today at an AFD, and while I agree with some of its arguments, I noticed that it deprecates "Blank is a blank" types of articles, on the ground that something must be 'unusual' to justify its own article. I know that you have started a number of useful and appropriate stubs of the very form "X is a Y in country Z." Thoughts? Edison (talk) 01:20, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
Well, it's not so much a problem with having a stub on every house so to speak, it is the problem with selling and occupying them. I have no problem with having proper articles on tiny hamlets, city neighborhoods, even roads in towns if they can be expanded and sourced beyond stubs. Potentially we could have an article on every village in the world but in my opinion if every category is full of several hundred stubs which all read xxx is a village in. Population is... and that's it and they don't get edited in five years it's of very minimal value. The articles don't have to have "unusual" content per se but at least a few basic sourced facts makes a big difference, like Mount Nanlaud for instance, that should be the bare minimum expectation for geo places really as they are productive, giving some basic facts. even if short. Makes a big difference when the articles look like they've been given a few minutes manual TLC rather than generically robot created. Wikipedia in my first 5 or so years here was all about setting out a relatively new website into development and building us, identifying as many different topics as possible and simply starting them to try to wildly get us working towards a more even coverage of the world. For a long time it frustrated me the sheer amount of content which is missing and from time to time when I browse other wikipedias I still get those feelings but I've learned generally to just accept it. There's only so much each of us can contribute. But these days, especially given the info which now exists on a lot of places I think we need to concentrate on fleshing some of the existing articles out as we do actually already have articles on most of the notable towns in the world with the exception of China and Russia. More valuable than creating sub stubs on hamlets in Gabon would be getting the larger towns up to start class and well-sourced like Okondja for instance. Creating tons of empty stubs is sort of digging a hole for ourselves as at some point somebody needs to write proper articles on them, as if the workload needed to expand existing articles isn't big enough. Do I make myself clear? My response probably surprises you and it's like speaking to a different person to the old Blofeld, but at the end of the day we're supposed to be an encyclopedia. Read my user page, that provides a good overview of my outlook nowadays.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:21, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

The article Amelia's Incline has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Not notable. It is mentioned in a 1957 article (The Eley source is a 14 page article from 1957, not a full book). And, well, that's it. A forum post on wehrmacht-awards.com mentions it, but that doesn't count towards notability. No idea why this has been assessed as mid-importance for Gibraltar, it has no importance whatsoever, it is not some major road or train tunnel. Not everything that exists should get its own article.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 12:29, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
I agree, but why the prod and talk page drill? Why not just ask for me to delete it?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 14:31, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
- I mistakenly didn't expect a favourable reply. My mistake. Can you cast a glance across some of the other roads and tunnels? Some of them seem to be having similar problems. Things like Ball Alley System, Brewery Chambers, Brewery Tunnel, Little Bay Tunnel have at first glance the same problems, while e.g. Turnbull's Lane, Bishop Caruana Road, Boyd Street, and Buena Vista Road, Gibraltar are a little bit better but still doesn't convey any sense of notability. No need to suddenly delete them all if you feel that they (or some of them) have more notability than what is there now, or if you want to check them more thoroughly. Fram (talk) 14:47, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
If they can't be expanded, and you're certain they're not notable, I'll trust your judgement in deleting them. I'm pretty busy today but feel free to delete as "author requested deletion". If you delete any which could be reasonably expanded the loss will be minimal anyway as they've yet to be expanded.. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 14:49, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll take a second look at them to make sure that they aren't obviously notable, and for any of them, feel free to ask for restoration if you (or anyone else) wants them back. If I'm not available, you can use this post to convince any other admin to undelete them if necessary without bothering to check with me first. Fram (talk) 14:54, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
- Little Bay Tunnel had one further mention in a reliable source (The Royal Engineers Journal volume 77), the other tunnels had no further mentions at all (as far as I could check of course, they are probably mentioned once or twice in more local or specialized sources). I have accordingly deleted them. I'll check the roads now. Fram (talk) 15:01, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
- Boyd Street was only noted as the location of Queen's Hotel (which has its own article), Bishop Caruana Road has some local mentions of its very recent construction, and Turnbull's Lane had no obvious notability either. Buena Vista Road seemed at first glance to have a bit more notability, so I left that one alone. Fram (talk) 15:15, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Apology
[edit]I'm very sorry Blofeld. You know that my intention was pure. I have cried seeing what happened on the FAC. I was too desperate to take it to FA ASAP. But, once I knew what it mean, I stopped asking others. Come on you know how I feel seeing bad history behind article. I'm very ashamed of my behavior. I apologized to Brain and Crisco. But, I never asked their support but the constructive comments much like Victoria. I don't know what to say further.—Prashant 03:08, 20 June 2013 (UTC) What should I assume? No one is going to forgive me? Well, Alright I'm not here to make friends and pay only respect but to work and I don't need anyone's help. If you were accused on an fac, where you gave your blood and sweat that It would pass only the third time without my involvement is quite an insult. And, if your co-nominator says that only he and others have contributed, then it's an insult to my work.—Prashant 15:11, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- Any thought over forgiving me? Come on I haven't done a crime. More than that, I have apologized to everyone. Its so heart breaking that one mistake washes your hard work and it fades somewhere in the mist. Please replay or tell me not to post here. I will get the answer.—Prashant 19:27, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- If you think I'm going to suddenly forgive you for what you did and pretend that nothing happened you're sorely mistaken. Usually I'm happy to forgive people and move on, people make mistakes, but loyalty is one of the most important things to me and what you did was one of the worst crimes in my book. If I can trust somebody and they remain loyal to me then I'm pretty much willing to forgive people for all kinds of stupidity, but rarely has somebody done something on wikipedia which angered me so much given what I said to you. Anybody who betrays my trust like you did with this leaves a long-lasting bad taste in my mouth. I told you at least five times to NOT go pestering people, you kept on and on at me and I made it perfectly clear to you that in contacting those people it could prove disastrous for the FAC. You not only did the opposite but you emailed them several times and pestered them several times and still continue to make a fool of yourself and further sabotage the FAC with your outbursts and clear lack of remorse that you can't see that what you did was a crime on a personal level. You're a liability, and I don't think however much I try to help you that you'll ever fully change. You'll continue to make error after error of judgement and bring other editors down with you which at some point I think will lead to you being banned from the website unless you buck your ideas up. I think you need to learn the hard way that you can't act the way you do and expect people to be courteous and respect you in return. I really hope that you continue enjoying editing here and continue to learn and I wish you all the best but please don't post here again.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 20:13, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
Congratulations Prashant you've single handedly gone against all odds and failed the FAC. Graham is right to close it. Above all you've let yourself down and robbed yourself of your first FAC out of sheer stupidity and lack of control. You should be ashamed of yourself.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:23, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
I'm really very very sorry for what happened in last two days. Please, accept my apology as I will change from now. If you can give some advice and tips which can improve my behavior would be great. Trust me, you will never listen any complain about me. I'm promising you that I'll change and will follow very instruction beneficial on Wikipedia. Please, forgive me. I'm saying this from the bottom of my heart. You'll never have any complain in future. I can't say more but please, forgive me.—Prashant 01:13, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- Prashant, I'd like to give you some advice: stop grovelling like a dog. You owe Blofeld nothing, least of all an apology. Find someone who will help you who is able to treat you like a fellow human being. --108.45.72.196 (talk) 02:10, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Excuse me, but I've generally treated Prashant more than a fellow human being, I've treated him as a friend and have stuck up for him in countless situations and shown more patience towards him than anybody else on here. But when I was really counting on him to keep his word he let me down tremendously which has cost us an FA. Two things above all I asserted to him a] Don't go pestering people to comment b] Whatever you do, don't react towards anybody at the FAC, whatever they do. Remember Prashant how much I asserted this? You let me down on both and did the opposite which has cost you your first FA. I've pretty much given you advice on how to improve and it largely comes down to a ]Learn to be patient. b] Don't take things personally or consider your hard work more important than wikipedia itself. If anything positive comes out of this failed FAC, let it be a harsh lesson to you to try to exercise more control and mature as an editor. Given time if you really make an effort to change I may start to notice but I think it'll take a few more blunders before you really change. All I can say is before you post on something, whether it is an edit summary, talk page comment, ANI report or FAC, always stop and think what outcome might come of it. I think you're intelligent enough to learn to see that a lot of your posts and actions have consequences and if you learn some self-control you can largely prevent negative situations. A lot of what you've had thrown at you by Smajorit and some of the others is a mirror of what you've given out. Had you even had a little intuition with the FAC you'd have known that 10 supports is a very good turnout, far better response than average, and probably would have passed within the next few days. The irony is that your rush to get your first FA ended up setting you back by several weeks. Stop and think about what you've done and try not to do this again! As for you, IP man. I see I've attracted your interest with my Vatican work which has probably upset you, because anybody who knows what he has done over the FAC knows that he needed to apologize to people, which he's now done. If he can't help himself, who can? Dr. ☠ Blofeld 06:39, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
I have really changed and you would not be able to see it in future ad I'm not going to talk to anyone or interact with others. I have got a hard slap across my face which I could never forget. That helped me and I'm not going to let it happen again. I'm feeling helpless and like the IP man said "a beaten animal" who is left bleeding just for one mistake which he wasn't aware of overlooking the hard work. Everyone posted that you and Bollyjeff were the victim, what I was not a contributor or an editor on the article. Someone even said that the article will only pass if I was kept away from its third FAC. Nevertheless, I will continue to work here without talking to anyone. When you get against me, suddenly everyone slapped me (which includes a person who himself apologized to me). That person removed my post saying not interested. No one is replying my post. So, I think I am the biggest fool here. Now, I have decided to concentrate on my work rather than making friends. No one saw my hard work I put to that article. The awards are raining on the others and mine work was not even appreciated.—Prashant 07:44, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
You still continue to ignore my advice!! I just said above to stop considering your hard work and being appreciated as more important than anything, that was what failed the FAC, the fact that you attacked another editor who was questioning the article. How can one forgive somebody who continues to ignore me and not learn his lesson? I just don't know what it'll take for you to really get that your hard work, while appreciated by the website, is not more important than wikipedia itself, it's a public website, we're not here for personal acclaim are we!! Everybody saw the hard work gone into the article and some even said so at the FAC. You keep on with the childish "he is appreciated with awards, I'm not, nobody rewards my hard work" rants. You've already been given a fair number of barnstars, more in fact than some more experienced editors who've done a lot more on wikipedia than you, and the turnout and support at FAC was handsome for an FAC but it wasn't enough for you. Unless people bow down at your feet and worship you, you'll continue to say that nobody appreciates you. It's doing my head in Prashant. You almost always get somebody like Victoria at FAC. It doens't mean that they're trashing your work, but they assume a critical stance, which even if it seems extreme at times, usually ends up in improving the article. One of the most important things you need to do is to never mention the petty appreciation and hard work thing, everybody cares about improving wikipedia and appreciates the work anybody does here to improve it, even if they might not tell you so.
IP man doesn't know the situation and clearly has issues with my religious articles. You don't need to apologize or feel humiliated any more, I'm sure you feel really awful by what happened, what's done is done. But that doesn't suddenly make me quick to forgive you for breaching my trust and messing it up. Move on, edit something you take pride in, if in time you have genuinely shown an effort to improve I'll start to notice, but I'm notice a regular pattern in your behaviour and we don't really seem to be getting anywhere. You continue to make the same mistakes again and again, particularly your "not appreciated" thing. At some point the Chopra article will be renommed, if you can get through that one and heed my advice we might get somewhere. But I've really had enough of you right now so 'op it, so give me a break, please.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 08:04, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

- Prashant, you don't seem to realize yet: my oppose was not what ultimately failed the FAC (not "yours", but the belonging to the three of you). Reread Graham's closing statement. You dug your own grave. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:24, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

But, you could have told me about the whole episode. I would have learned that canvassing is bad but, you ultimately opposed and then, the discussion started to go againt me and most importantly the article. Yes, you are right I dug my own grave as you forced me to do so.
For Blofeld, tell me which 90s article to expand? You know that i love challenges and my biggest challenge tight now is to re gain tour trust and faith in me and Your's too Crisco.—Prashant 11:35, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Dunno, why not try to expand a film like Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! or Karan Arjun or something, one of the more notable 90s movies. It would be good to see some good quality 90s Bollywood films. Would be good to Hum up to GA status... A challenge you could work towards is aim to get one Bollywood film up to GA status for each decade as far back as you can go. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 12:03, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
I'll choose HAHK! (If bollyjeff allows me). Well watch out Blodeld. Possible GA for July or maybe August. Hehe.—Prashant 13:23, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- Claiming that he did not know about canvassing is total BS. See this from his talk page when he was warned not to do it during the first FAC and did it anyway. He did not even learn from that, did it again in the second FAC, and still claims innocence?!? Unbelievable. BollyJeff | talk 19:54, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Prashant, I think it's only fair that when we come to renom you refrain from commenting at the FAC. Naturally you'll be credited as a co-nom and author but I don't think we can risk it a third time. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 20:10, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- You don't have to worry about the third one Blofeld as now, I'll take each step very wisely. I will definitely comment on the fac but keeping everything you told me in mind. As you can see, I didn't reacted till that oppose. But after that I started feeling my mistake and loosing my mind. This will never happen again and this time you could trust me Blofeld. Well for how? Many days this discussion will continue. Please, leave it here. Well I have started expanding Aitraaz (im tired of searching sources for it) but, I will expand it significantly by this week. I have nominated Fashion for GA and I'm working like never before.—☯ Prashant 20:41, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- And let the good doctor and I handle the fixes as well. If you have more to add to the article, do it now and then let it sit please. BollyJeff | talk 20:16, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Jeff would you be interested in getting a Bollywood film from each decade up to GA/FA status? One 1970s film next?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 20:23, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Austrian geologist
[edit]That was a weird one. German Wikipedia had her birth and married names reversed and hadn't linked her with her husband, who has a much longer article there. (I fixed both things there and added in her full death date). The pdf bio expatiated at length on how she assisted hubby's work, largely unrecognised. Winds up being a bit of a sad story, although her publications are yards long, especially if you include her co-authorship of his catalogue of foraminifera. (She has OCLC identity pages under both surnames, and there is a full publications list at the end of the pdf, regrettably also with abbrevs. for all the periodicals). Request for input in drafting potential guidelines
[edit]Hi. There are, at present, no particular clear guidelines for religious material here, or, for that matter, guidelines for how to deal with ideas in general, particularly those ideas which might be accepted as true by individuals of a given religious, political, or scientific stance. There have been attempts in the past to draft such guidelines, but they have quickly been derailed. I am dropping this note on the talk pages of a number of editors who I believe have some interest in these topics, or have shown some ability and interest in helping to develop broad topic areas, such as yourself, and asking them to review the material at User:John Carter/Guidelines discussion and perhaps take part in an effort to decide what should be covered in such guidelines, should they be determined useful, and what phrasing should be used. I also raise a few questions about broader possible changes in some things here, which you might have some more clear interest in. I would be honored to have your input. Category:China location maps at Commons
[edit]That hasn't had a new standard, provincial-level addition for nearly two years. Russia, Canada, the U.S., and possibly India all have a complete set of first-level division location maps. It seems though that China must bear the worst brunt of what I describe here; asking around at Map Requests is no use, as the makers there seem content on turning a blind eye to my snippet "On descriptive geography". The sore lack of these maps causes me wary of creating articles for locations in Anhui, Beijing, Gansu, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Tianjin, Zhejiang, because these provinces/municipalities do not have a corresponding location map template. Your additions of Hebei and Shanxi are of course invaluable, but are not as accurate as the standard maps in extreme corner locations. Thanks much for your attention, GotR Talk 04:45, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
Yes I know, India too has numerous missing ones still. Northnorthwest seems too busy to make maps these days and as far as I can see nobody else is making them. I'd rather not create the rather amateurish looking maps using OSM.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 08:01, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Do you really expect me to treat you like a best friend so soon after what happened Prashant? Not sure what you mean about DYK, but if you expand one of her films the amount of prose expanded must be x5. Excluding infboxes and references you can count the readable prose in an article here. Thanks! Actually I've created 2.23% of all wikipedia articles. Yeah can you try to get the other 39,000 odd thousand, that would be great. Or maybe load the article created page on a different tab and wait and then copy the first 40,000 odd? Probably 1. As the first article created through to now almost 95,000 would be a better order. [edit]Noticed most of the DYK queues are empty so did up a prep set, but not sure what else I should be doing there, looks like a lot more to do. First time I've ever tried this...Help?? Montanabw(talk) 21:37, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
- The prep set seems fine, but you haven't added any of the credits. I shall do that now.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 21:45, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank You!
[edit]Thank you for threatening me to topic band. Yes, I deserve as I am not a contributor. You know everything that some editors are chatting through email and their group is trying to get me down. You are still not letting the fac dust to settle. You know everything but still.....Some editors are adding fuel to fire and you are ignoring that. I can't say more. Thank you for your best award.—Prashant 10:10, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
If you really want Chopra to pass FAC, seriously the best thing you can do is stay well clear of the article and us until after it. I mean that. I know you mean well, but that isn't always compatible with the FAC and I really have an uneasy feeling that you're going to fail it again by not seeing in hindsight that edit warring etc is also not acceptable.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:32, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
But, for how many times? I have to listen to others taunts. I'm tired of answering that I really wish good for the article. Some editors are taking advantage if time, as they know that you are not going to listen to my words. They all are taking advantage by aiming to block me. You know that better. Sometimes, they post barnstats, sometimes revert my edits and sometimes they step into conversation, who don't have any contributions to the article (only have increased contributions number by reverting and re-reverting by using IP). I'm feeling depressed so much, that I'm not able to expand other articles. Please, let bygones be bygones. I promise you that , fac problem will not arise again. Please, Answer my mails also.—Prashant 10:50, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
As I said, I put you on my email spam list the moment I heard that you pestered those people. I don't check my spam mail, I delete it every few days, so don't bother. If you want to regain my trust and support, I ask you to get on with something completely different for a few weeks, let us take care of the FAC and trust us that we'll see it through. You've more than done your part in the article writing. If you can lie low for a few weeks and get on with expanding some older Bollywood movies and avoid commenting or editing the Chopra article or arguing with the other editors until after the FAC you have my promise that I'll begin to help you out again. If you can't do that then I'll know that you really don't care.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:58, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
You are right. I'll distance myself from the main article until re-nomination. But, LL help on the fac but patiently and under your guidance. Nothing more than resolving issue. As, you said, I'll take your words. I have few suggestions for the Chopra article. Dostana was noted for her performance but largely for her beauty and look in the film. A review on her look (only) will be good inclusion and her one of the important film What's Your Raashee?, a review should be included. What's say?—Prashant 11:16, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
If you have suggestions for the Chopra article please air them now on the talk page, not during the FAC!!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:29, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Should I add the reviews to the article in just one edit.—Prashant 11:43, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
If it doesn't affect the neutrality and they're not all gushing reviews, but my feeling is that we already have plenty of reviews..♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:54, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Well, They are promising review mot gushing and all praise
- For WYR: "She's emerging as an actor to watch out for"
- For Dostana: Its about her beauty.
I thing this is neutral.—Prashant 12:04, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Do they help the reader in terms of encyclopedic information though? Probably not. That's what matters above all. I'd leave it, honestly, we had 10 supports before, adding those reviews won't change anything really, in fact it could make it worse.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 12:06, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
- But, they are her important films. So that's why I thought to include. It doesn't effect either.—Prashant 12:15, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Good news
[edit]There is good news. Fashion has passed GA review and now it is listed as a Good article.—Prashant 13:27, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Congratulations, but your review wasn't exactly the most constructive, SL93 didn't even display the GA criteria checklist. Seemed like he rushed it. If you were thinking about FA eventually it would have been better to have had a more thorough review.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:30, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- I was following the criteria as I reviewed it and went through every source, but I did not know where to find the checklist. If it is considered unconstructive, I can cancel everything out. SL93 (talk) 16:53, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not disputing the passing GA, but I think it might have been more constructive for the article to have undergone a vigorous GA review, especially if at some point Prashant wants an FA for it. I think you should have been more critical with it.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 16:58, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

I'm rather busy right now I'm afraid, I might get to it within a few days if nobody else does.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 15:26, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hmmm... OK. But your first reply was rather weird. Did you misunderstood me as Prashant?----Plea$ant 1623 ✉ 16:23, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, in fact I often get you two mixed up, probably the P name and signature! ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 16:57, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, that's a problem! Anyway, please sign my guestbook in the spare time. Thanks, ----Plea$ant 1623 ✉ 17:29, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

- Don't take this the wrong way but what's the point in having a guestbook?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 17:53, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- You know, if Jimbo Wales can have a guestbook, why can't I? P.S. - Are you American or British or Indian? Because you have contributed to several James Bond articles (even your username is based upon the legendary Bond villain), you have great interest over Indian cinema-related articles, and yet you use American English.----Plea$ant 1623 ✉ 18:10, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Me? I'm Amenglish.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 18:17, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- Are you a big fan of British and Indian films?----Plea$ant 1623 ✉ 18:24, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'm a cinema buff, mainly Hollywood, British, Italian and Hong Kong films.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 20:26, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

FA Help
[edit]Well! I was expecting more constructive comments for it. I want to take the article for FA...some prose tightening or maybe a sharp eye is required. Would you help in doing so. I plan it as my next FA. Main page: 29 October 2013. Since it will take 2 months for review, I have only one and a half month for its improvements.—Prashant 02:41, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
