Hi, my name is Colin Abdul-Malik Orr. I am of Irish descent, I was brought up in England, and I now live in Fife, Scotland. I work for a charity that supports people with mental ill health. I have a lovely family. My interests include West African drumming, growing veg, and trying to be a good citizen in the local community. I have a strong interest in spiritual matters, and being a murid of Sheikh Nazim Al-Qubrusi has given me a perspective that embraces peace, love, truth, justice. In my particular circumstance, this for me means being anti-war, pro-environment, and pro anything that celebrates the fact that all humanity has been created by God, and all humans have an equal right to all that brings us dignity, security, and accomplishment. I always look for what unites us, not what divides us. Therefore I feel comfortable attending Quaker worship, where I can practice silent dhikr. I celebrate the diversity of man's reaching out to God, however imperfect our efforts may be. I preach tolerance. I practice the Jihad al-akhbar, the Great Jihad, which is the struggle of the soul against the lower self and its selfish impulses.
