Criteria
[edit]While I do not adhere to a precise formula, I consider the following factors when deciding to support or oppose a candidate:
- Competence – The candidate must:
- Demonstrate a firm grasp of and respect for the five pillars.
- Communicate clearly, including articulating his or her reasoning thoroughly during discussions.
- Have created or significantly developed multiple non-stub articles that are well-written, structured, and suitably referenced.
- Temperament – The candidate must:
- Be civil toward others, but not a doormat.
- Display receptiveness to constructive feedback as well as tolerance of opposing views and criticism (i.e., not be a snowflake or a false martyr).
- Be transparent about his or her activities on Wikipedia, except in the case of a clean start, and provide accurate and considered responses to reasonable RfA questions.[1]
- Take a logical and ordered, not capricious, approach to editing without veering into overregulation.
- Not be high-maintenance, obnoxious, or a jerk.
- Not be a fanatic or support murderous ideologies that degrade or devalue the individual or family (e.g., communism, fascism, intersectionalism, racism, sexism).
- Experience – The candidate must:
- Have experience with processes that require the attention of administrators, such as blocking, deletion, page protection, and dispute resolution.
