Wahid Enitan Oshodi (born May 5, 1967) Wahid Enitan Oshodi was born on May 5, 1967, and is a descendant of Oshodi Tapa, a prominent historical figure in Lagos. is a Nigerian sports administrator, legal practitioner, and civil engineer. He is the current President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) and an Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).[1] A leader with diverse expertise, he holds degrees in Civil Engineering and Law, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Law and Practice.[2] Wahid has held several prominent positions, including Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Social Development in Lagos State, President of the Nigerian Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Vice-President of ITTF Africa (Western Region), and Member of the Board of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, where he chaired its Marketing Commission and later its Ethics and Good Governance Commission. He also chaired the Nominations Committee of the ITTF.

Wahid Enitan Oshodi was born on May 5, 1967.[3] He began his education at Aunty Ayo Primary School and Corona School, Ikoyi, Lagos, before attending the prestigious Methodist Boys High School in Lagos, where he graduated with eight distinctions at O’ Level in 1983. Wahid earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos in 1989, followed by a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Buckingham, England, in 1991.[4]

Career

Early Career Wahid Enitan Oshodi began his professional journey as a civil engineer after obtaining his engineering degree in 1989. He later pursued a career in law, earning his LLB in 1991 and being called to the Nigerian Bar in December 1992. This multidisciplinary foundation provided the basis for his subsequent legal and administrative endeavors.

Legal Career Wahid’s legal career is marked by leadership roles and expertise in corporate law, arbitration, and sports law. He began his legal practice in June 1994 as a Principal Associate and Head of Chambers at Ukpong & Omotoso (Barristers & Solicitors), now known as Consolex Partners.

In January 1998, he co-founded Oshodi, Oshodi & Co. (Legal Practitioners & Notaries Public), where he served as a Partner until May 2001. Since June 2001, Wahid has been the Managing Partner at Oshodi, Oshodi & Co., overseeing the firm’s operations and providing strategic legal counsel to a diverse clientele. His practice extends to representing multinational corporations, sporting organizations, and commercial entities, with a focus on regulatory compliance, corporate governance, dispute resolution, arbitration, and sports law.[5]

Sports Administration Wahid’s influence in sports administration has been profound at both national and international levels. In 2011, he was appointed Honourable Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Social Development in Lagos State, serving until May 2015. During this time, he successfully organized the 2012 National Sports Festival, hosted by Lagos State, which was widely regarded as a milestone event for grassroots talent discovery in Nigeria.

As President of the Nigerian Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) from 2013, Wahid revitalized table tennis in Nigeria by prioritizing youth development and international competitiveness. Under his leadership, Nigeria hosted high-profile international events, including World Table Tennis (WTT) and ITTF Challenger tournaments, significantly enhancing the country’s profile in the global sporting arena.[6]

Personal Life Wahid is married to Abisola Oshodi, and together they are blessed with children. Although he values his privacy, he is socially active and enjoys participating in communal and cultural activities. Wahid is a proud member of various associations in Lagos dedicated to charitable works. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading and engaging in social events, reflecting a balanced personal life that complements his professional commitments and philanthropic interests.[7]
