Barnabas Awuni

Barnabas Awuni is a Ghanaian professional football manager born in Ghana on 20 December 1989 in Wa, the capital of Ghana's Upper West Region, Barnabas Awuni has emerged as a prominent figure in Ghanaian football coaching. His journey from a humble upbringing in Wa to managing some of the country's notable football clubs is a testament to his dedication and tactical acumen.

Awuni's career has seen him work with several distinguished teams, including West African Football Academy (WAFA)[1], King Faisal Football Club, Vision FC, Skyy FC, and now Asekem Football Club. Known for his sharp tactical mind and ability to adapt to different teams' needs, he has garnered respect as a coach capable of transforming teams and inspiring players.

Managerial Career

Barnabas Awuni started his football manager career as an assistant coach to Vision Football Club from the year June 2014 to December 2016 as well as the head coach for the club's 3rd division team Validus F.C. In 2017, Barnabas Awuni took up the mantle as the head coach for Ghana Angels Soccer Acamedy, an under-13 team based in Prampram, Ghana.

In December 2016, he got the chances to do a coaching attachment at Tudu Mighty Jet Football Club till March 2017. He again in the year 2019, he was priviledge to have another coaching attachement with Ghana's national under 23 team. In that same year he further his coaching attachement by moving to Benin where he was with Olympic Sport of Parakou.

Back from Benin, Barnabas Awuni was appointed as the head coach for Accra division two based club, Mountaineers Football Club where he served from June 2019 to July 2022.

On July, 2022, Skyy Football Club contact him to be interim coach for the few months ahead to help scout players for the yet to be commenced season.

On 28 September, 2022 West African Football Academy announced the appointment of Barnabas Awuni[2] for the 2022/2023 Ghana Division One League season. After 2022/2023 season, Barnabas Awuni joined Swedru All Blacks for a short term.

On September 2023, King Faisal Football Club announced the signing of Barnabas Awuni as the head coach for the club's Ghana Division One League 2023/2024 season. The tactician spend the entire 2023/2024 season with the Kumasi based club and renewed his contract with the club for 2024/2025 season but eventually both parties parted ways in December 2024[3] after King Faisal home game against Swedru All Blacks which was played at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

On 4 January, 2025, Kumasi based Division One league side, Asekem Football Club announced the signing of Barnabas Awuni [4]to be the head coach for rest of the season for the 2024/2025 Ghana Division One League.
