Aswin Vazhuveil Guinness

Aswin Vazhuveil Guinness is the first person from Kerala to enter the Guinness World Record in plate spinning and the 77th person from Kerala to win a Guinness World Record in an individual event. Aswin was born on 14 December 1995 in Kadampanad Panchayat near Adoor in Pathanamthitta district to Babunath Vazhuvelil, a former Panchayat President, and Indirabhai, a Malayalam teacher at Thengamam Government Higher Secondary School. After his primary education at M. S. CLPS School, Thuvayoor , N. SS.UP School, Thuvayoor, Mannadi High School, and Technical Higher Secondary School, Adoor, he completed his higher education from Pandalam N.S. S. College and Kottayam M.G. University.

Aswin started spinning when he was in the sixth grade after he noticed Rajinikanth spinning a kite on his finger in the movie Chandramukhi, starring Rajinikanth. Since he did not have a kite of his own, he used a book to practice early on. Since his mother is a teacher, he had to be beaten by his mother several times in the beginning for spinning a book.

When he was preparing for PSC coaching after his degree, his friends told him that plate spinning was a Guinness World Record item. That is how the idea of a Guinness World Record came to his mind. His family, who initially opposed spinning a book, came to support him.

The performance for the record was held at Peerumedu on January 15, 2020. He broke the record of one hour, 10 minutes and 39 seconds set by Nigerian native Ishakogio Victor. Ash[1]win set a new Guinness record of 2 hours 10 minutes and 4 seconds. He is the state chief coordinator of AGRH (All Guinness Record Holders Kerala), an organization of Guinness record holders in individual events. In addition to the Guinness Record, he has also received the Universal Record Forum World Record.
