Me
[edit]Hey, I'm user Ameliadf81272. I am a second-year Business major at a state school in Georgia. I have a passion for animals, sports, and photography. My user boxes will teach you more about me.
Animals
[edit]This user loves Pugs. |
When I was three years old, I discovered meat came from animals and have been a vegetarian ever since. I love animals and currently have 2 Bulldogs, 2 Chihuahuas, 1 Pug, and 2 Cats. Animal hoarder?...Getting there. Only my cat, Puma, stays with me at school and rides my skateboard with me, making her the coolest cat ever.
Sports
[edit]During sophomore year of high school, I became a Sports Ambassador through People to People Sports Ambassador Program in which I represented the United States in Holland. While in Holland, I played basketball on the U.S. team as starting point guard against other countries. Unfortunately, multiple legs injuries and mono ended my basketball career before senior year. Although I could no longer play basketball, I found a new passion for lacrosse and became the goalie because I still couldn't run from a prior basketball injury. As a goalie, I have played on an international traveling team and competed in tournaments such as All-American Showcase and Champion's Cup. On my high school team I was three-time Most Valuable Player and won an award for Dedication. Although I was offered lacrosse scholarships from D1, D2, and D3 schools I decided to play on the club team at Georgia Southern University and focus on schoolwork.
Contributions to Wikipedia
[edit]Crista Samaras was my lacrosse coach on the international traveling team I was on and has also been considered the top U.S. women's lacrosse player. I created a page on her after discovering many articles explaining her lacrosse career, businesses, and inventions.
East Cobb Baseball is a youth baseball league located in my hometown which has a Wikipedia page that needed lots of editing. It was written as an advertisement and was biased, so I deleted and corrected some sentences to meet Wikipedia standards. There were also small grammatical and spelling errors I corrected.

Photography
[edit]This user enjoys photography. |
I agree with Robert Capa when it comes to photography that, "If it's not good enough, you're not close enough." I love photography and find it mysterious, beautiful, and meditative. In high school I won first place in the Sandy Springs High School Art Competition and also had a photograph displayed in the High Museum.
Education
[edit]I attended public school until sophomore year when I transferred to a private Episcopal school. Although I was sad to leave the friends I grew up with, I quickly realized it was the best decision I have ever made. My entire perspective on life changed. It was here that I learned the joy of photography, importance of community, and also discovered new beliefs. With our school being church-affiliated we had to attend chapel every Thursday. I had never enjoyed church until I was forced to attend the chapel at my high school. It was like nothing I had ever experienced. The sermons always gave a new perspective on the world and we were fortunate enough to have amazing speakers, such as Paul Rusesabagina. After graduating high school, I went to a private university in Jacksonville, Florida. I absolutely loved the beach, but the university was not at all what I was expecting so I transferred to a state school in Georgia. I could not imagine being anywhere else because I love everything about the university I currently attend.
