[edit]On July 31, 2024, President Joe Biden nominated Johnson to serve as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. President Biden nominated Johnson to the seat being vacated by Judge Steve C. Jones, who will assume senior status on January 1, 2025.[4] Johnson, age 37 at the time of her nomination, was one of the youngest people to be nominated to the federal judiciary by Biden.[5] On September 25, 2024, a hearing on her nomination was held before the Senate Judiciary Committee.[6] On November 21, 2024, her nomination was favorably reported out of committee by an 11–10 party-line vote.[7] On December 5, 2024, the Senate invoked cloture on her nomination by a 50–45 vote.[8] On December 9, 2024, her nomination was confirmed by a 48–44 vote.[9] She is awaiting her judicial commission.
