[edit]The book received a generally positive reception, with reviews also criticizing the confusing and uncompelling narrator. The book was widely reviewed, garnering reviews from The New York Times,[2] Publishers Weekly,[3] New Orleans Review,[4] The A.V. Club,[5] Kirkus Reviews,[6] The Independent,[7] and The Seattle Times,[8] among others. The book won a 2006 American Book Award.[9]
