The Stadium at Memorial Field is a multi-purpose stadium located in Mount Vernon, New York.[1]

The stadium is home to USL League One club Westchester SC, and has a capacity of 3,900.[2][3]

History

[edit]

Early uses

[edit]

The stadium opened in 1931, and was used by local high schools and youth sporting events.[1] Additionally, the stadium hosted boxing matches and concerts, including The Jackson 5 and James Brown.

However, in the late 1900s, the stadium was in a state of disrepair.

Renovations

[edit]

In 2022, the field reopened after a $40 million renovation project that included renovated locker rooms, concessions, and facilities.[4][5]

The first athletic event to be held at the newly renovated stadium was a high school football game between Mount Vernon High School and Yonkers Force co-op.[1] Mount Vernon won 32 to 24.[6]

The stadium is also home to the Monroe University football team.

Westchester SC, a professional soccer team set to make their debut in 2025, will play their home matches at the stadium.[2][3]
