The Room Returns! is an upcoming American romantic drama film produced and directed by Brando Crawford. Starring Bob Odenkirk, Bella Heathcote, Greg Sestero, Kate Siegel, and horror film director Mike Flanagan, the film is a remake of Tommy Wiseau's The Room (2003).

Cast

[edit]
  • Bob Odenkirk as Johnny, a successful banker who is engaged to Lisa and is Mark's best friend.
  • Bella Heathcote as Lisa, Johnny's fiancée and Claudette's daughter, who engages in an affair with Mark.
  • Brando Crawford as Mark, Johnny's best friend, who is having an affair with Lisa.
  • Kate Siegel as Claudette, Lisa's mother.
  • Mike Flanagan as Peter, a psychologist and friend of Mark and Johnny.
  • Greg Sestero as Chris-R, a drug dealer that threatens Denny. Sestero originally portrayed Mark in the 2003 film.
  • Cameron Kasky as Denny, a young college student who is financially and emotionally supported by Johnny.
  • Arturo Castro as Steven, a friend of Johnny and Lisa.

Production

[edit]

Principal photography commenced in January 2023,[1] for one day.[2] On March 9, 2023, /Film reported that a greenscreen-based remake of The Room was in post-production, with Bob Odenkirk starring as Johnny, Bella Heathcote as Lisa, and Brando Crawford as director, producer, and co-star, through his company Acting for a Cause.[3][4] The rest of the cast was announced with Kate Siegel as Lisa's mother Claudette, Mike Flanagan as Peter, and Greg Sestero as Chris-R, the only cast member returning from the original film. Other members of the cast include Arturo Castro, Dilone, Rivkah Reyes, Jarad Schwartz, and Cameron Kasky.[2] Odenkirk said the film was not made as a joke nor mocking The Room, but was presenting the material of the original film seriously.[5][6] The profits of the film will be donated to amfAR, an organization for HIV/AIDS research.[4]

Release

[edit]

The film was originally set to be released digitally in Spring 2023,[4] but as of April 2024 there is no set release date.[7] At a live Q+A in May 2024, Greg Sestero revealed the film is still in post-production and should be finished imminently.[citation needed]
