T-42 = L-23 Seminole (Twin Bonanza)?
[edit]This template indicates that the Beechcraft L-23 Seminole (Twin Bonanza in military guise) was the first version of the T-42. I can't find any online documentation that this aircraft was ever designated as the T-42, in 1962, it was redesignated as the U-8. Joe Baugher's website indicates that the T-42 designation was exclusively used for the military version of the Beechcraft Baron, and I've found this website to be extremely comprehensive. - Carguychris I did find this, which claim that "T-42A" was the original designation of the canceled TU-8G Seminole before being reassigned to the Baron, and this, which claims that the TU-8G program became the T-42A. - ZLEA T\C 22:29, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- I'll check my university's library when I get the chance. I think I know of a few sources that might clear this up. - ZLEA T\C 22:31, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- @ZLEA, anything to report? Carguychris (talk) 18:07, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- Carguychris Unfortunately no. Not even the only source I know of to even mention the unbuilt K50 Twin Bonanza makes any mention of the T-42 designation. I think it's safe to remove it. - ZLEA T\C 19:00, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- Done. For what it's worth, Swanborough and Bowers' United States Navy Aircraft since 1911, which I also find extremely comprehensive and reliable, discusses the canceled purchase of the TU-8G by the Navy, but does not say that the aircraft was ever designated as the T-42A.
